“As a House member, before I could move a motion in the house, I had to write to the Speaker of the national assembly”
“Even if you want to move such emotion, and the speaker figure out that there is an intent for such, and may want to go against what they stand for, he will sideline you”
“You cannot stand up in the house and speak until the speaker permits you to do so. That is the law. The blacklist you. If you put your hands up in front of the speaker. He will overlook you and call somebody behind you.”
— Hon. Chinedu Obika, Member representing Abuja Municipal/Bwari constituency.

Lawless @OfficialDSSNG operatives today stormed the home of BOYSA President, Samaila Kaigama at about 4 p.m in two Hilux vehicles, heavily armed, and proceeded to ransack the house.
According to Samaila, they chained his legs during the operation and searched the entire premises, insisting they needed evidence to charge him to court. Despite the exhaustive search, they reportedly found nothing.
Samaila also disclosed that he has continued to suffer severe maltreatment in DSS custody.
He alleged that he has been denied food and forced to drink water from the toilet, all in an effort to pressure him into surrendering evidence in his possession. He has remained resolute, insisting that he will only present whatever evidence he has in a court of law after he has been formally charged.
I stumbled on this VIDEO of the House of Reps Committee on the Capital Market interrogating Mrs Dame Atunma Oteh, the then Director-General of the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
It refreshed my memory of how Nigeria’s criminal political class conspires to bring down competent and upright office holders who fail or refuse to do their bidding.
In 2012, Mrs Arunma was summoned by the House Committee for refusing to pay a bribe of N5 million to the Committee Chairman, Herman Hembe, to fund a public hearing. The Committee proceeded to recommend her removal, accusing her of mismanaging agency funds.
They further connived with some Board members and senior staff of the SEC to pressure the Presidency to bend to their demand to send Mrs Arunma on compulsory leave and audit her activities as the SEC Director-General, particularly the “Project 50” event held in December 2011.
Expectedly, the probe validated Mrs Arunma’s integrity and commitment to national interest, and brought shame to the House Committee. It took the insistence of Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the approval of President Jonathan for her to be reinstated.
After her office expired in 2015, Mrs Arunma got immediate international engagements, from people who genuinely valued her worth. Nigeria lost her and her wealth of knowledge and experience.
Currently, she holds three standout international posts, amongst many. One, as an Executive in Residence at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Two, an Academic Scholar at St. Antony’s College, Oxford. Three, the Chairperson of the Royal African Society.
This is a reminder of how corrupt politicians in Nigeria conspire to frustrate and chase away competent and honourable public and civil servants who refuse to bend to their criminal will and interest.✍️

The Six Geopolitical Zones Should Have A Dialogue For The Betterment Of Nigeria — Ulasi
It is difficult to imagine our sincerity as a people for one Nigeria. The South-East are neglected and not taken in as a people of one Nigeria because we fought a civil war. But statements like this from the Plateau governor tells you there are people with varying views. We didn’t start the war.

Nigerian men are not okay in their brain anymore. Any small thing, they are already punching account number.
One thing that deeply worries me about Nigeria is this:
Some dreams are almost impossible to achieve if you're born, raised, and educated here.
Want to become an astronaut? There is virtually no pathway.
Want to become a world-class professional footballer? For most talented children, the route is far harder than it should be because the development ecosystem is weak.
And there are many other careers where your biggest obstacle isn't your talent, it's your geography.
This is why some Nigerians have to leave the country, not because they hate Nigeria, but because that's the only way to fully pursue their dreams.
That should concern all of us.
A child's future should be determined by their ability and hard work, not by the accident of where they were born.
Nigeria has no shortage of talent.
What we're missing is a system that allows talent to become greatness.
THIS IS THE WORST BUDGET PADDING IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.
N1.3 BILLION FOR A FAKE AGENCY THAT DOESN’T LEGALLY EXIST.
N8.4 BILLION MEANT FOR RURAL ROADS, SECRETLY BURIED INSIDE THE ALMAJIRI EDUCATION BUDGET.
BILLIONS FOR CHURCHES AND MOSQUES WITH NO NAMES, NO ADDRESSES, NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
AMBULANCES AND SOLAR STREETLIGHTS HIDDEN INSIDE RANDOM AGENCY BUDGETS ACROSS EKITI, OGUN AND KATSINA.
AND LAWMAKERS WANT US TO BELIEVE THEY DIDN’T KNOW, WHEN EVERY SINGLE LINE PASSED THROUGH THEIR OWN COMMITTEES FIRST.
THIS ISN’T A BUDGET. IT’S A CRIME SCENE WITH A COVER PAGE.
NIGERIA DESERVES BETTER THAN THIS.
