New meta suggests diminishing returns to higher per session set volumes, which seemed to peak at ~11 fractional sets. IMO, take-home is that if you're performing higher volumes for a given muscle group (i.e., >8 to 12 weekly sets), then better to split up the volume over the week

Load Velocity profiling for the Rear Leg Elevated Split Squat
"Bulgarian Split Squat" / RLESS using smith machine w/ 1 second pause between ecc/con phases
🔸V. high association btw %1RM & mean propulsive velocity in RLESS (R² = 0.94)
🔸L/V profile is consistent btw dominant & non-dom limbs @ %1RM despite sig. diffs observed in absolute load lifted btw legs
🔸Change in velocity of 0.05m/s approximates a 5% 1RM change in load
🔸Minimum velocity threshold (MVT) at 1RM appears to be 0.25m/s (range = 0.15 - 0.30)

The main finding of the study was that during the late regeneration phase (48 hours post-baseline), fatigued players may select a movement strategy to accomplish the output driven goal of jumping for height.
