The govt brought these in because the private sector transport guys have exploited people's need to travel for nearly 50 years (since privatization) and invested NOTHING to make transport better.

To hell with privatizing it- transport is an enabler and it (like education & health) should be run by the state for the people as a service.

I would love to get to the point of intra-city transport being absolutely free for all. Using tax money to buy these buses and running them at cost (or free) is how it should be. Bringing private capital crap means people want a return - there should be no "return" from transport, health or education (and defense).

Yeah that goes against your liberal, capitalist position but that's alright. That approach UTTERLY failed the people at least w.r.t. public transport.
