@DisandroJacee@Rainmaker1973 Agreed this is wonderful and hopefully a glimpse of coming advances in medical treatments. I don't want to downplay the joy, but in these times of regression and attacks on science I want to point out that this is not a miracle. This is scientific progress.
@PhysInHistory Not what I was taught in high school or engineering school. I was taught the scientific method, critical thinking, and peer review. But I see this line or reasoning most often used for non-scientists to dismiss actual science.
@krishsh_@rohan_2502 When I think about where AI dev was 6 months ago and where it will likely be one year from now I have the same thoughts. Is it worth making these difficult improvements for marginal gains or will this be irrelevant in one year? Sonnet was good. Opus changed everything.
@CsTominaga@PhysInHistory strawman, bait-n-switch, false equivocation, "scientism is religion too", humility inversion all in one rhetorical post. So much dishonesty.
Why are religious types so dishonest?
@rickypitts@fasc1nate Like asking 'what's the correct blood pressure?' while someone's spiking to 200/120. The issue isn't a Platonic ideal - it's that we're changing atmospheric composition faster than any point in millions of years, and every system we depend on was built for different conditions.
@PMountbatt59388@deedydas I'm 48 and have been developing since I was 19. I've been saying exactly this the last few days and started using CC in July. Opus 4.5 crossed a threshold. Linux/VIM user who always valued language over tools.
@HowardKech@rshereme Budapest had no "unless NATO expands" clause. Russia's commitment was unconditional. Disliking Western policy doesn't void treaties or justify Bucha, Mariupol, and daily strikes on civilians. + Orange Revolution was Ukrainians protesting election fraud not a treaty violation.
@Juanlexit@NightSkyToday With that attitude we'd still be in caves. Turn in all your tech, because it came from the same culture of curiosity and discovery.
@salvation_f Women made men.
Also, women made radium, DNA science, mRNA vaccines, the compiler, Wi-Fi tech, Kevlar, and the math that got us to the Moon.
You’re welcome.
@JoshBeattie12@BulwarkOnline Good point. I wish more people would understand. Science exists outside the U.S. /s Whether it be vaccines or climate science, scientists worldwide reached the same conclusions.
@JonasSiverson@SpencerHakimian The followup? Check each statement independently. Different sources. Maybe even different LLMs if you need analysis.
I'm an analytical type. Most aren't. It's easy to buy lies when you never follow up.
