I met with Japan’s Minister of Defense Shinjirō Koizumi @shinjirokoiz to advance our shared vision of peace through strength.
Our strategic alignment is essential to building a credible denial defense—supported by increased investment, greater access, more realistic training, and stronger production of the munitions our forces need.

Here we go again. Absurd claims of Japan’s “remilitarization” are nothing but a ploy to justify the weaponization of critical mineral supplies. Beijing’s gratuitous export restrictions don’t impact Japan alone. They harm businesses across the region, including American ones, that have built strong partnerships with Japanese companies and value the quality and reliability of their products. Clearly, the words “stability” and “disruption” mean the same thing in Chinese.
Russia’s recent arrest of Hokkaido Shimbun reporter Yuki Imai is nothing short of a gross attempt to intimidate and muzzle independent journalism. As a nation that holds freedom of expression to be a cornerstone of any free and vibrant society, the United States condemns Imai-san’s detention and Russia’s refusal to allow Japanese diplomats to visit him. @doshinweb@MofaJapan_en@MofaJapan_jp
“ブリヤート・モンゴルがロシア連邦の植民地支配から独立することを支持する”
何とマリーナにロシアが懲役20年の判決を出した。テロ関連罪という。荒唐無稽な判決であり非難する。
先月にニューヨークで開催された第2回ブリヤート独立支持者大会に家内と2人でオンライン登壇し、連帯の挨拶をしたばかりだ。
ロシアの非ナチ化、脱植民地化が必要だ。
Make Russia Small Again!

I stand with the people of Ukraine.
Putin clearly has zero respect for the administration and our country. He violated the energy ceasefire yesterday which is a giant middle finger to President Trump.
My thoughts are with the people of Ukraine as they continue to be under assault from Russian ballistic missiles.
Oh what a surprise: Russians killing kids in the streets. Again. Where’s the evidence that Putin wants a peace deal?
Again, @elonmusk, the right thing to do is open Starlink for Ukrainian use. Let them protect themselves.
Time for Putin to step down. Putin started the war. Putin has refused all peace deals with absurd demands or outright rejection. Putin has caused the death of 1 million or more. Putin has nuclear missiles aimed at our country. Putin is providing support to the Iranian regime.

🇯🇵🇺🇸 A foreign follower sent me a video of a Japanese leftist woman who organized a protest over the case involving a woman in Okinawa who was allegedly killed by a U.S. servicemember. She said 130 people showed up and repeatedly said “enough” while listing past crimes committed by U.S. servicemembers in Okinawa.
Her political background is not exactly a mystery. In April, the Japanese Communist Party’s newspaper Akahata featured her as a co-representative of a civic group campaigning for former Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki’s reelection. A June article in the Asahi Shimbun, “Why a Graduate Student Protests in Tokyo,” also featured her anti-base activism. She has been openly involved in anti-base activism for years.
She also follows mostly left-wing accounts, the protest was covered by left-wing newspapers, and the photos show activists holding political signs—not ordinary Japanese people who simply happened to come out to protest. In Japan, most people are non-political and generally don’t attend protests without being mobilized.
Of course, crimes committed by U.S. servicemembers are a serious issue. What concerns me is that such crimes had been declining but appear to have increased again recently. I would understand analyzing the causes and discussing how to prevent future incidents.
But claiming that we need to “raise awareness” about an issue already extensively covered by the Japanese mainstream media makes little sense to me. If anything, the awareness that needs to be raised is among Japanese women themselves. The video never made clear what she wanted people overseas to do or what outcome she was seeking. It simply came across as using this tragedy to attack the U.S. and the U.S. military.
The U.S. military presence in Okinawa also plays an important role in Japan’s security and defense, especially given the current security environment in East Asia. That reality needs to be taken into account.
If the Japanese left wants U.S. bases removed, I would at least like to see them call for Japan to become stronger first—to maximize Japan’s own defense capabilities and ensure its security. Instead, many oppose strengthening Japan’s defense while criticizing those who help defend Japan.
In the end, all they are doing is benefiting authoritarian regimes such as China. I don’t know whether they are doing it knowingly or simply don’t understand what they are doing.
