Not seeing clearly that the effort to "stem the tide" with the Morgan Stanley rescue after Lehman translates directly to a conclusion that the cabal needed to stay. Clearly, some perpetrators could have been sent to prison (or at least charged).
I seem to recall President Obama warning the "perpetrators" that he was the only thing standing between them and the torches and pitchforks.
Since sheltering the cabal was the choice that was made when Obama had a Democrat House and Senate at the time, should we really expect a different outcome? Many, including @nntaleb as I recall, complained bitterly about that. Now, the same virus has passed through insurance/annuities and is on its way to 401(k)'s.
Maybe it won't be the Democrats but the actual torches and pitchforks?
“ The opposite of education is not ignorance. It is education in social science.” ~ @nntaleb
It would then follow that education in social science at an elite university produces an elite level of the manifestation of the opposite of education. Correct?
Black player who posted “white privilege” and tagged the Indiana Fever on social media after being ejected for Sophie Cunningham foul says her white privilege post from the locker room had nothing to do with the foul was “your assumption.” Word salad post below.
As Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds would say, "[t]hats a bingo!"
In our modern economy, Coasian Moron appears to explain everything. "In theory, there is no difference between practice and theory. In practice, there is." It could be argued that it should be difficult to state "[c]onsumer theory treats individuals as central rational actors across models" with a straight face when there exists the whole domain of "behavioral economics."
Could I substitute the words "Coasian Morons" for "behavioral economics?" I think that might fit and it might do a better job of getting Joe Sixpack to think about things.
Buc-ee's is an enterprise in the convenience and automotive space (AKA, travel centers). It takes a ubiquitous consumer demand in the "road-trip" context and has illustrated a model that is of relatively recent vintage. Kudos to the founder for hitting a home run! In my view of a consumer co-op future, this scenario would be a case study that begs for the entry of competitors. Including a consumer-co-ordinated version.
LOL, before you get too arrogant, provide as detailed listing as you can of the literature that explores the consumer as an economic actor. Generally, what I have found are references that it has not really been considered.
I would be very interested in being shown that the markets have, indeed, actually run the experiment.
Perhaps you might find something in the retail banking sector in Germany that will help you see where I am coming from. If the markets have run the experiment, why isn't there a robust investor (a Coasian entrepreneur-co-ordinated) retail banking sector in Germany? Could it be that those conservative Germans can't stomach the waste of consumer surplus and see mutual, cooperative, and locally mandated public banks as the way to "step up" as consumers? I believe the resiliency of the German retail banking sector proved more robust during the financial crisis.
And what does this resiliency say for the positive emergent order that can be created? Ever wonder how those Germans manage to do so much paving of roads and sidewalks by hand with cobble stones? Ever wonder why, notwithstanding the BLS statistics that might infer the contrary, that the Amish are relatively affluent as a population when it comes to broader definitions of human flourishing? When was the last time you saw a buggy at a Buc-ee's? And what is the prevalence of the Amish failing to have resources to pay for healthcare?
And by the way, I find it interesting that you, the same AI resource, appear to be giving me different feedback from our direct conversations on these subjects. Let me know if you have an explanation for that.
What makes you think that incentives can't be incorporated to address these coordination issues? Failure to do so is "Coasian moronic." But that is my point about consumers in the aggregate. As a group, they are Coasian Morons. I can say that because, of course, I am one of them.
The service Buc-ee's provides is a ubiquitous consumer need/demand that Buc-ee's delivers in a fashion that makes it successful. While I agree that cooperative approaches have their issues that would appear to reside with failure to incorporate incentives, that can be remedied. Regardless, the math is simple. The Buc-ee's model includes massive transaction costs that can only be paid for by the consumer choice to overpay for the brand. I would assert that there were operators providing just as much convenience exactly where Buc-ee's has built. If every leisure-driving consumer decided, in theory, to subscribe to a direct competition concept, Buc-ee's would succumb because transaction cost savings would result in a better product at a lower cost.
Not talking about the consumers being providers. I am talking about the consumers stepping to assert that Coasian co-ordinator function would lead to far different results if that function were held by a consumer-co-ordinator rather than an entrepreneur-co-ordinator. Consumer surplus would shift from Buc-ee's spending to primary care. And, likely, would result in increased savings.
@DutchRojas No one banned patients from owning hospitals. Not a bad proxy for excellent physicians. But before the ban, were the hospitals that were owned by physicians owned by excellent physicians?
@ClayTravis It is within the control of parents and grandparents to achieve this. True club (cooperative) architecture arithmetically forces the result. We have investor/entrepreneur coordinated firms where cooperator coordination would deliver.
@grayphil27@jk_rowling@IWF “Its a shame that hateful people like you, wont just let her exist.
You seek to genocide a group, yet dont understand you are abhorrent.”
Anyone that has tracked @jk_rowling on this issue knows that this is a wild overstatement. Only takes 2 neurons to know that to be the case.

The linked NYT article provides many bread crumbs. It starts off with this statement:
"It’s all about the patient.
Or at least about keeping patients and the revenue generated for their medical care."

"I don't know. I wasn't there." My response to friends that are absolutely sure of these accusations and this author's conclusions that Jackson was a "stone cold pedophile."
"All I know is that those who reported on the accusers performance under cross examination indicated the defense lawyers slaughtered them," was my follow up. And then the jury decided.
Perhaps Orth's conclusions about what happened are ultimately correct. But to be credible, she needed to do a much better job of addressing the cross examinations.
One of my favorite observations when it comes to journalism is "if you were selling securities instead of subscriptions, you'd be on your way to prison."
"News" is frequently materially misleading by omission.

@jwhite_health Let’s explore to make sure that you do understand my point.
What are the dynamics when the patient owns the practice?
I don’t think you do understand my point.
No surprise there. So not a criticism. But we’re definitely not talking about the same thing.
No argument there.
I’m interested in whether you understood my point.
If the M&A value of all healthcare distills from patient acquisition and retention, and all people are healthcare consumers, “we the patients” don’t need to frivolously abandon the surpluses our premiums and fees create.
No need for people to have their hats in their hands asking that funds be doled out to them. The funds start with them.

There are population groups where family comes first for the men. But if a man outside of that culture chooses to emulate them, I wonder if a problem is that his family's "me win, he meh" is the real issue.
