VIDEO | “Blood disorders like thalassemia requires patients to undergo blood transfusion again and again. It increases risk of infection and children with such disorders tend to not live long. Bone marrow transplant is a surgical procedure which can cure it. However, a very good set up is required for it and it is very expensive. So, Coal India and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have signed an MoU in which Ganga Ram Hospital is a partner. We will identify children with this disease, who belong to poorer section of society, treat them and the costs will be borne by Coal India,” says Ganga Ram Hospital Chairman, Dr Ajay Swaroop.
