Work to clear the rubble is ongoing at the site of a Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky. As of now, 18 people have been reported killed, four of them children: Oleksandr, Kyrylo, and Serhii, who were only one year old, and eight-year-old Maksym. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Dozens of people were injured, including seven children. All emergency services are involved and working at the site. Fifteen people were rescued, including one child. There are still people who have not yet been accounted for.
The Russians know very well that they are striking ordinary cities, ordinary life. And the continued use of missiles against Ukraine, against our people, our children, is an absolutely deliberate choice of terror. This is what Moscow chooses – despite all our efforts with partners to bring peace closer. And this is a clear reason why more pressure on Russia is needed and why Ukraine needs more defense packages. It is important that leaders understand this. It is important that the world not remain silent today.
Today, as a birthday “gift” to Putin, the Russian army destroyed a residential building in Pryluky, in the Chernihiv region. It was an ordinary five-story apartment building. Tragically, as of now, five people have been reported killed and 26 injured, including five children. There may still be people under the rubble. First responders are working nonstop at the site – doing everything possible to find every person. Russian missile strikes also damaged five apartment buildings in Dnipro and four high-rise buildings in Kremenchuk. Tragically, two people were killed and eight injured. A high-rise building in Zaporizhzhia was damaged by a drone. In Kyiv, the Russians killed two people. Two more people were killed in Oleksandriya… My condolences to all the families and loved ones of those killed. Overall, infrastructure in Kyiv and 12 regions came under attack last night.
One of the key targets was our energy infrastructure. The Russians wanted to strike painfully and demonstratively. This was one of the most vile strikes: 70 missiles in total, many of them ballistic, as well as “shaheds.” Unfortunately, only some of them were shot down. Russian ballistic missiles remain the greatest challenge. And air defense packages for us right now are a vital necessity. That is why every day we are looking for missiles for Patriot systems that can and must actually protect people’s lives here, in Ukrainian skies. Thank you to everyone who is helping us.
On this day in 2023, Russia struck the village of Hroza, Kharkiv region. Barbaric missile strike killed 59 civilians at a memorial service in a local cafe.
Russian propaganda long insisted that military personnel were present, but in reality the victims were exclusively local villagers. 36 women, 11 men over 60, and an 8-year-old boy.
It was a deliberate act of terrorism, shocking in its cruelty and demonstrating clearly russia's true nature. We remember🕯
Kherson was hell again last night.
russians burned people alive in their own homes.
Stop pretending this will somehow end on its own. The russian plague will not stop itself. It must be stopped.
So this explains the bizarre attack on Zelenskyy by the South Korean president
He probably knew this was coming out and wanted to get ahead of this investigation showing that SK is assisting the Russian terrorist genocidal regime
In case you missed it, in 2023 the Russians kidnapped a Ukrainian female journalist and returned her lifeless body without its internal organs. She was 27.
Horrific scenes in Kyiv city center. 15 minutes walk from the hotel in which I stayed in May-June. If Putin is not stopped, this will get worse. If Poland and Germany wouldn't shoot down Russian missiles over Kyiv, they will eventually have to shoot them over their cities.
Today, science became a target for Russia.
My heart goes out to the heroes searching for people trapped inside Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences.
As well as to the families and loved ones of the victims of horrific attacks across the country.
We stand with them. And with all Ukrainians.
Europe is working harder than ever to strengthen Ukraine’s defence.
Russia struck Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences today and civilian targets in Kyiv, Dnipro and beyond. Civilians were killed. This is deliberate terror against a nation's people, science and economy. Russia must pay for these crimes, and its terror must be stopped.
In broad daylight, Russia struck a building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the very heart of Kyiv. Tragically, there are reports of people killed and injured in the attack.
There is no bottom to Russia’s cynicism. A scientific institution full of people in the middle of a working day has become another target of its terror.
Russia is deliberately expanding the boundaries of what it believes the world will tolerate. Every attack left without a strong response only encourages the next one.
Our partners have the means to change this calculation. Ukraine urgently needs more missile interceptors to protect our cities, tougher sanctions to deprive Russia of resources for its war, and stronger pressure on everyone who helps Moscow sustain its killing machine.
Russia must learn that every attack has consequences. The price of attacking Ukrainian civilians must become unbearable for the aggressor.
We also call upon @UNESCO – the Organization dedicated, among other things, to protecting science and the scientific community – to strip the aggressor state of its voice, voting rights and its eligibility for election to any governing or working bodies.
If scenes like these came to us from Berlin, Paris or Washington, would the world remain indifferent?
This image was taken in Kyiv around noon today, after terrorist Russia struck the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with a drone.
