Google’s market capitalization is $4.2 trillion. Sergey helped created $4 trillion in wealth for other people, even after subtracting his stake of 6%.
He provides health care to Alphabet’s 200,000 workers, totaling 1.7 million person-years of coverage since Google’s inception.
He has also helped fund our government by providing mountains of tax revenue in the form of corporate income tax, payroll tax, capital gains, tax and income tax — all the taxes he legally owes.
What you’re trying to do Senator is not to make him pay what he owes. He’s already done that. What you’re trying to do is create a new tax that forces founders to sell a share of their companies each year. Since we live in a democracy, he has the right to voice his opposition to the government trying to steal his company from him, and from every other founder in this country.
You are trying to destroy this country and he is trying to save it.
SpaceX provides launches at a fraction of the cost. The government buys a ride on their rocket, saving taxpayers millions & billions of dollars. This is ~5% of SpaceX revenue. “You took from us!” No, he saved you money.
Democrats: “Everyone should drive electric cars! Let’s give a $7,500 tax credit to everyone who buys one!” Elon makes electric cars like you asked for. “He took from us!” No… you paid people to buy cars like the ones he makes. Why did you come up with this incentive if you didn’t like it? You thought it was a great idea until he became your political opponent. These incentives are no longer gone and Tesla reported the their best second quarter ever.
Tesla and SpaceX are makers. They do not take other people’s money, they save taxpayers money.
We're already here. Billionaire tax became $50m tax in 3 weeks. Soon it will be anyone with $1m in home equity.
Why? Because you MUST tax the middle class to raise any real amount of money to cover the spending Ro and others want to spend.
It's always a middle class tax.
Just a reminder that all of the things that make your life easier, healthier, and more pleasant (innovative new medications, streaming services, professional sports franchises, food delivery apps, internet service, the handheld mini-supercomputer you’re reading this on, the motor vehicle…) have been brought to you by capitalism. Not one is the result of socialism. ☺️
"If a medical school knowingly taught future physicians treatments that had been disproven decades ago, we would not call it academic freedom. We would call it malpractice. Yet in teacher preparation, programs can continue teaching methods that contradict the best available evidence"
This excellent article by @HeatherPeske focusses on reading, but the same is happening (maybe even worse) in math education. https://t.co/AnCWGDVfhm
I switched to 4.8 when I gave it my C dataset that has memory safety bugs. This was just in the chat window. I use GPT-5.5 in codex mostly. I've given an agent a task to label 50k samples of coding data using subagents, but that was more a parallel task. I've had it build CodeQL classifiers with a custom agent harness that took 4 hours, but the results were not good. Over fit and outright cheating.
Hey @RoKhanna, seems very hypocritical to hoard inherited wealth while calling for new wealth taxes on others
Will you set an example for the billionaires by donating 50% of your family’s wealth to the government or charities of your choice?
@_basilp@tbpn@GavinSBaker I bet they get to $100/kg shortly after starship is being recovered regularly. The next halving could certainly take more than 4 years.
they’re struggling to pay for groceries and gas because of your policies. haven’t you noticed that as soon as you cross any state border gas gets cheaper?
Elon isn’t making gas expensive. He built a car that doesn’t need gas. And tbh the SpaceX IPO has done more to pay Americans bills than any of your policies Governor.
