LADAKH LEADERS CALL A PRESS CONFERENCE
AT 4pm, LADAKH BHAVAN, NEW DELHI
Leaders of Apex Body of Leh & Kargil Democratic Alliance are rather disappointed by the Sub Committee level meeting in New Delhi on 9th Sept.
There was hardly anything new beyond the last meeting four months ago... No draft prefpared by MHA to discuss, no response on the list of Non-negotiables Ladakh had sent a month ago, not even an assurance of not doing any major irreversible restructuring of local governance, land transfer policies etc before a legitimate democratic Assembly is in place...

The only major outcome of the meeting was perhaps to fix the next meeting date... in October. This is why we're reminded of famous comedian Jaspal Bhatti's meetings today.
As we had guessed this meeting on 9th Sept seems to be just a red herring to distract Ladakh from the massive Leh to Kargil Padyatra march that was to start from 10th Sept.
Trust is diminishing distrust is growing unfortunately.

यह अत्यंत चिंता का विषय है कि दिवालिया हो चुकी बिहार सरकार बाढ़ पीड़ितों की सहायता करने में उदासीन है। आपदा राहत की राशि का उपयोग केवल निर्धारित उद्देश्यों के लिए सुनिश्चित किया जाना चाहिए था किन्तु इस वर्ष राज्य की आकस्मिक निधि एवं अन्य वित्तीय संसाधनों का उपयोग नियमित सरकारी खर्चों में इस प्रकार हुआ है कि आपदा के समय राहत के लिए धन की अत्यंत कमी हो रही है।

मैंने प्रधानमंत्री को पत्र लिख आग्रह किया है कि केंद्र सरकार:-

1. बिहार की विनाशकारी बाढ़ को “राष्ट्रीय आपदा” घोषित करे।
2. बिहार की मदद के लिए तत्काल 𝟓 हजार करोड़ की वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करते हुए विशेष बाढ़ राहत पैकेज उपलब्ध कराए।
3. भीषण बाढ़ से प्रभावित एवं सड़क संपर्कहीन क्षेत्रों के लिए अतिरिक्त नाव, बोट एवं अन्य संसाधनों की तत्काल सहायता उपलब्ध कराई जाए।
4. बाढ़ राहत एवं बचाव कार्यों के लिए आवश्यकता वाले क्षेत्रों में सेना एवं वायुसेना के हेलीकॉप्टरों का सहयोग सुनिश्चित किया जाए।
5. भोजन, पेयजल, दवा, पशुचारा एवं अस्थायी आश्रय की पर्याप्त व्यवस्था सुनिश्चित की जाए।
6. किसानों, मजदूरों, पशुपालकों एवं प्रभावित परिवारों के लिए विशेष आर्थिक सहायता प्रदान की जाए।
7. राज्य की वित्तीय एवं आपदा-प्रबंधन तैयारियों तथा राज्य की आकस्मिक निधि के उपयोग व लेन-देन की स्वतंत्र समीक्षा/ CAG परीक्षण कराई जाए।

Every year, lakhs of students leave their homes to chase a dream in another city. But are we giving them a safe place to live?
In Delhi, around 7 lakh students are enrolled, while hostel capacity is barely 30,000 — just 1 in 31 gets a hostel.
Why not identify vacant government land around universities and allow/build safe, affordable student hostels there? Universities could also be given additional building permissions to create more on-campus accommodation.
Students get safety. Parents get peace of mind. Universities and governments generate revenue. And, most importantly, we protect lives.

Sometimes, a small change in policy can protect someone’s biggest dream. ❤️

#बिहार #पटना: गंगा, गंडक, सोन, पुनपुन समेत अन्य नदियों के बढ़ते जलस्तर से प्रदेश में बाढ़ की स्थिति गंभीर बनी हुई है।

▶️पटना, भोजपुर, सारण, वैशाली, भागलपुर, मुंगेर और कटिहार समेत 12 जिलों की 10 लाख से अधिक आबादी बाढ़ से प्रभावित है।

India & particularly Ladakh understands the pain of being at the forefront of #ClimateChange.
We have experienced this in Leh in 2010. Unfortunately many more places will experience this in future if we do not change our ways.
People in the mountains suffer for no fault of theirs as people in big cities continue to live as if there's no tomorrow.
There perhaps is NO TOMORROW...
Please live simply in big cities, so we in mountains may simply live.

When public transport, buses and roads are expected to be affected, how are students and faculty supposed to travel safely
