A UAE businessman turned a simple gift-box game into a surprise for his entire team. Employees picked wrapped boxes containing either chocolates or brand-new iPhones, but those who initially found chocolates were later handed iPhones as well, leaving everyone with the same unexpected gift.
The UAE has lifted precautionary visa restrictions on nationals of Uganda after authorities confirmed the end of the country’s Ebola outbreak and completion of the internationally established monitoring period.
However, precautionary entry measures for nationals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan remain in place.
The UAE authorities said the measures will continue to be reviewed based on evolving health risks and public health standards.

The UAE dirham is going further for many expats sending money back to South Asia and the Philippines, as several major currencies remain under pressure. On September 25, one dirham was around ₹26.09 against the Indian rupee, Rs75.62 against the Pakistani rupee and 17.01 against the Philippine peso.

A super El Niño could bring severe heat impacts across Southeast Asia, with the US-based Climate Impact Lab projecting around 6,500 additional heat-related deaths in the Philippines from September 2026 to February 2027 compared with a normal year.
The group estimates up to 451,000 excess deaths worldwide linked to El Niño in the coming months.
Philippine authorities are also warning of worsening drought, rainfall deficits and hotter temperatures, with several provinces expected to face dry conditions.
Indonesia is projected to see the highest number of heat-related deaths in Southeast Asia, while Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia could also face significant impacts.
