Every day I fly as a student pilot I am reminded about our duty to keep others safe, and now the administrator of NASA is praising brazen regulation violations that jeopardizes hundreds of lives. I think it’s as “cool” as the next person but this isn’t the NASA I want to work for
“The Biden administration only gave semiconductors to trans people” is something out of a deranged Facebook feverdream but nope it’s the president actually
The CHIPS Act funds the production of chips using leading-edge **transistors**
And now you can probably figure out why he thinks these companies needed transgender people to qualify.
We are truly living in the dumbest of times.
genuinely cannot believe that the Diarrhea Forever meme turned out to be completely literal. this political era simply cannot be parodied or satirized. the stupidest thing you can think of can and will happen.
I have no opinion on the article, as I haven’t read it. But this phenomenon is happening because, with very few exceptions, the last 20 years has taught people that to be optimistic about tech is to be a rube
Those of us whose natural disposition is “this could be great!” looked stupid time and time again as the promise of progress was revealed to be a get-rich-and-get-out scheme for a few thousand people. Or a new way to mine our data. Or an environmental disaster. Or an illegal grift. Or a surveillance tool. Or yet another middleman inserted into our lives, driving up cost and then making our experiences worse
It’s utterly unsurprising that the people who write about it have started to end-run to the part where tech gets bad, where something cool gets co-opted by evil losers who seem to hate humanity
I wish it weren’t so, but Tech Optimism is dead, and it’s the tech scene’s fault
police officers who leave their K-9 locked in their hot car to die should have to face the death penalty as a capital offense of murdering a police officer just like suspects who kick or fatally injure K-9’s during a pursuit etc
Growing up hearing “Wikipedia isn't a valid source” and then entering a workplace where people say “just ask ChatGPT” is a surprisingly strange timeline
Reminder that shit like this is happening because Trump’s budget cuts to agencies like the FDA. Our food is less regulated now because of his choices as a leader.
so not only is ai less efficient than real employees, but its also MORE expensive than real employees
masterful gambit by these companies that fired their workers in droves for ai
