@jamesacowling@jamesacowling
well of course you get those emails, after all you're
More cracked than the screen of my iphone,
10x the coder of your avg course 6 grad,
A greater ninja than Master Splinter,
More of a rockstar than Bon Jovi,
And you make Gandalf look like a third class mage.
I need a new pharmacy. @cvspharmacy seems on a mission to figure out how slowly one can process a customer. Approaching 15 minutes with no line progress. And this isnβt that abnormal. The mobile stuff is also a joke.
It blows my mind that github offers emoji respones to and +1 isn't one of them. If they intend for thumbs up to be that, it makes me feel angry everytime. I do NOT like this bug.
Outage going on 14 hours now. I continue to get msgs βmaybe your power is back, actually noβ. I looked up the history in 15 months, weβve had 76 hours of downtime so far. @PGE_BayArea how so bad?
PG&E incompetence is truly unrivaled. Iβve gotten three messages that my power is back. The first two took me to a map that shows my power still out. Third shows my power back, but in fact itβs still out. All the while they could just see if they can talk to their smart meter.
GPT-5 coded up a modern version of my first graphics assignment from 20 years ago. It did in 5 minutes, what took me 8 hours then, and would take my rusty graphics programming self a few hours today. What a time to be alive.
Everyday useful ChatGPT Agent Prompt:
βWhat outdoor activities near [my city] are happening later this afternoon / tonight that are good for families with young children?β
It took reasoning, computer use, and deep research to finally defeat the enshitification of the internet.

Dope. Exciting to see how the safety of robotaxis unlocks areas previously inaccessible to most human drivers (formerly limited to taxis and buses). Makes accessing Market shops and offices convenient; while keeping bikers safe.
@zeeg My personal thoughts:
No one knows exactly how long the road is, but we're _far_ closer than almost everyone thought we would be 10 years ago.
Incredible capabilities have fallen out of the pursuit of AGI. I greatly underestimated this in 2020. Seems logical to keep pursuing.
Tragic airline crash. So many close calls at airports in recent years this seemed inevitable. I always wonder why aviation was such a leader in adopting many technologies but ATC and the civilian <-> military interface is so old fashioned.
@kylemisc I have some concrete ideas of pieces:
- [mostly] private social network
- credit/authority assignment and weighting
- AI based fact-checking and logic analysis
Not the most interesting thing to work on right now IMO. Maybe it's third (after ai & π€). Hope someone does.
@kylemisc No one from what I can tell.
As we long ago chatted over beers, I've continued to have thoughts on this and how to improve the news.
I think you have to overcome the incentives of virality, money, and retribution.
In autonomous vehicles and robotics, a trigger of mine is when a commentator dismisses an event as an 'edge case'. If you see something once a year driving, it happens 670,000 times a day across US driving.
That is *not* an edge case.
Never mind something you see once week...
