@UEDCLTD You people have failed us as Ugandans especially ku that monthly tax you always take kati are you going to compensate us Ugandans otherwise you people are bogus as f****
German cars are not as unreliable as most people think. They are just unforgiving. There is a difference and most buyers learn this after they have already paid for one.
A Toyota will absorb almost everything you throw at it, for example, skipped service intervals, using the wrong oil grade and mechanics who learned the job by watching somebody else. The Corollas and Premios were engineered with margins for human error and imperfection because Toyota assumed the world would not always have a master technician on every street.
Most German cars were engineered with the opposite assumption.
A BMW N20 timing chain stretches when oil intervals stretch past 10,000 km on the wrong grade. An Audi DSG mechatronic unit dies quietly when the gearbox fluid service is skipped at 60,000 km. A Mercedes turbo eats itself on inconsistent oil quality. A Range Rover air suspension fails on a neglected compressor that needed attention at 80,000 km and did not get it. None of these failures are random. Each one is a receipt for a shortcut that was taken months or years earlier.
The cars themselves are not always the problem. Remember, these are luxury machines built to tolerances that demand to be respected. Service them like a Corolla and they behave like a problem. Service them properly on the right fluids and the right schedule and they will outlast most Japanese vehicles.
The mechanic who has never been properly trained on a German car is the first problem. The owner who hired him to save on labour is the second.
And throughout my experience i have come to realize that the cheapest part of owning a German car is actually the car itself. The most expensive part is the discipline it requires to maintain and live with one...
Tell me about your experience with a German car below.
