Three researchers in the Lancet Journal estimate that up to 186,000 people may have been killed in Israel's war on Gaza, including direct deaths from the conflict and indirect deaths from causes such as reproductive, communicable, and non-communicable diseases. The estimate was based on the death toll of 37,396 given by the Gaza Health Ministry on June 19. The researchers also noted that armed conflicts have indirect health implications beyond direct violence, with indirect deaths ranging from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths.
