For AI, an analogy that works now but may change in very near future itself is “Chirag ka Genie”. That is because as of now, it doesn’t seem to have ambitions truly of its own, or so it appears. Everyone has been given a genie now. It’s at least a situation in which a good outcome has very little probability, while complete chaos is almost guaranteed. Talking about double edge swords — no one in history would have ever witnessed or imagined a bigger one than AI.
Due to personal reasons, I spent the past two years being pretty much at the bottom of the trench, utterly drained and bankrupt both physically and mentally (energy wise). For better or for worse, as opposed to following some popular advice, I have had the approach of thinking my way out of my problems. Around a few months back, it started becoming obvious to me that the answer was to clean and organise the s**t out of everything. It’s not like I have achieved some major milestones with respect to that. I am still a fledgling. But anyone who tells me that Jordan Peterson’s advice to start by cleaning one’s room is not the single highest-ROI advice for people at low points in their lives hasn’t experienced or thought this through.
If you keep rewriting everything algebraically, essentially the sole difference between a first world and a third world country boils down to cleaning and organizing. That is of course not to minimize the importance of it, but the contrary. I am amazed.
Mom life has lots and lots of checklists to tame. Else, you will keep looking like a homeless person with no clear timeline on when the things might improve.
Most days pass really stressed while taking care of a baby. Some or the other thing is gnawing at one almost everyday. Many days he is not eating amply. Many days he is really hard to keep alive, because babies be like so casually trying to kill themselves. Randomly one day though, he eats his proteins amply and gleefully in the morning, he starts walking in the afternoon (he seemed ready to walk for a past few months but didn’t) and in the evening you see a rainbow from your balcony. :)
Some outside foods I love eating too much, but are quite unhealthy otherwise. After some time I learn to cook that myself, and then eat it. And then I never want to eat it again.
A classic loophole that entraps empaths forever and is typically exploited by all narcissists - to a group of unsuspecting empaths, to call someone evil makes you evil yourself (and it should, because that is a good design), and you are definitely a horrible person if you create a boundary and block, yet you might die if you don’t create a boundary and block in some situations. Who is to judge whether law of proportionality was correctly, precisely and perfectly employed or not. It’s almost impossible to employ it perfectly, yet you will be judged harshly if you don’t.
When a narcissist enters a system, leaving as a good person is just not a possibility anymore - you either die (metaphorically or literally), or you survive and be seen as a horrible person.
I was reading about forced arbitration today. I realise that one starts grasping the work of God as easily and as early as they grasp anything else, but grasping the work of devil takes a lot of growing up and badgering your head really.
Lately I’ve been consuming a lot of content on both left and right. So much so that I now feel to have landed right at the centre of nowhere. I have no idea whether changing climate is normal or threatening. I’ve no idea about lots of other things like that. So much for “I’ll do my own research”. 😏
On a serious note, why is there not as much centrist media as the other kinds?
This is why it’s said, metaphorically, that we tend to think from heart when we are younger, and we start thinking using brain when we get older. Empathy can and does go wrong in many places, so much so that there should be a term called “crimes of empathy”.
Ideally more knowledge is supposed to de-stress one. Is our world situated in some circle of hell already, that almost always, on an average, it does the opposite to us?
If you are a giver, keep being a giver, but recognize the takers, for you never know when it stops being noble.
Very hard to know when it becomes too much, or for how long it has already been too much. You never know when the ice gets way too thin for your own mortality.
