It’s the honour of my life to be Leader of the Labour Party.
I will be a leader for every region and nation in this great country, and this Party will be unashamedly Labour in our priorities and in the decisions we take.
Together, we will set Britain on a new path.
Today we have seen just how hard countries around the world will be hit by UK aid cuts. Chair @SarahChampionMP has said the announced allocations show a fundamental inconsistency in government policy.

When I said I was going to do politics differently, I meant it.
Yesterday I spent a couple of hours in Cardiff city centre inviting people to ask me anything about my plans for the UK.
I've decided to leave this platform and my Department will too.
A platform originally designed for free speech and expression now favours abuse and misinformation over meaningful debate.
It isn't healthy for our democracy or our communities and I don’t want to support it.
@BoveFromAbove Plaid held onto that seat for a number of years before Labour won it. I can’t see is as a stunning win. I see it as going back to normality in that ward
Yesterday, I questioned the Chair of the EHRC about the new Code of Practice, and the harm it poses to trans people and others who do not conform to gender stereotypes.
The Code suggests employees of a business or a service should enforce restrictions based on evidence such as “the individual’s physique or physical appearance, behaviour or concerns raised by other service users.” When asked to specify what these would be, the Chair couldn't answer and instead spoke about “common sense”.
The truth is that people would be relying on gender stereotypes, which are harmful not only for trans people but for others as well.
From now on, I will be posting a campaign update around teatime every day to let you know where I’m up to.
Here’s the first one - hope you find it interesting. Enjoy the evening sun everyone!
After the UK government’s guidance on single sex spaces, it's important that trans people and LGBTQ+ communities come together, support one another and make sure nobody faces this alone.
The guidance around trans people and single-sex spaces is going to leave a lot of people feeling anxious, upset, angry and uncertain about what comes next. Right now, it’s important that trans people and our wider LGBTQ+ community do not retreat into isolation or feel like you have to carry this on your own.
Community matters now more than ever.
Look after each other.
• Check in on your friends.
• Support people who are struggling.
• Build each other up.
• Make sure nobody is left alone with their fear, anger or anxiety.
Protect yourself and protect one another.
LGBTQ+ communities have always survived difficult moments through solidarity, visibility and community care. This moment is no different. Over the coming weeks there will be a huge amount of debate online and many organisations, workplaces and services will still be trying to understand what today’s guidance means in practice.
We would encourage people to take care of themselves, avoid spiralling online where possible and focus on staying connected to supportive people and spaces. If you need support, please reach out.
Research carried out at Cardiff University has confirmed that UK-wide TV news gave limited attention to May's elections in Wales, Scotland and England, often treating them as second order contests ✍️@ShiptonMartin https://t.co/Nfi7hHGsNd
🇬🇧The King’s Speech shows Labour understands the scale of the challenge facing Britain & the need for change.
But we need to go further & faster to create the jobs of the future, build affordable homes, boost the NHS & deliver real change people can feel in their daily lives.
