$3M and an emergency sole source contract for a “temporary” lifeguard tower to replace a 45 year old lifeguard station that was failing due to years of poor maintenance, planning, and budgeting.

There is no funding identified for the replacement station so it’ll be interesting to see just how long this temporary station is in use.

As an iconic San Diego destination, Mission Beach deserves better, and so do the lifeguards that work here.
