Happy 250th birthday to the USA, which I truly believe is the greatest country in the world. It is great despite its flaws and precisely because it corrects for its flaws. Loving the country does not mean loving a particular political figure or an ideology. It’s believing in this country and knowing that it can and will always do better and get better. Afghan immigrants helped the US in the War on Terror, risking their lives. If you want to get rid of welfare for immigrants fine - no issues with that. But this level of vitriol is also directed against educated high earning immigrants like Indians as well. At the end of the day, opposition to LEGAL immigration is not about economics. It’s a function of racism and being a complete loser in life looking for someone else to blame.

You can play with whatever semantics you want but we absolutely are a nation of immigrants. Always have been. There have been huge waves of immigration throughout history and racist xenophobes have always been against them starting with the Irish, then Italians and so on. Also unlike the first waves of immigrants (who you call settlers and colonists) the later immigrants have not committed massive violence against native communities or enslaved people. Find some other way to make your life better rather than blaming others.
