Thank you Hoboken & Jersey City! We truly did it!
For now all I will simply say is I am deeply honored to be your Democratic Party nominee — along with @katiebrennan_32 — for Assembly! We look forward to working hand in hand with fellow Democrats to secure victory in November.
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!
Thanks for always showing up each day with love, patience, and support.
Enjoyed watching Shabegh play baseball today, and seeing my brother Amar at the Gurdwara.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Father’s Day!
For decades, the Hoboken Terminal Redevelopment Project languished while the downtown rail-yard area sat underutilized. When I came into office, my administration and the City Council made it a priority to develop and approve the transformative redevelopment project that led to today’s ribbon cutting: a reimagined, pedestrian friendly Hudson Place that prioritizes open space, seamlessly connecting Hoboken Terminal to the waterfront and business area.
Very proud to take part in today’s ceremony with Mayor Jabbour, LCOR, our state representatives, and more as Hudson Place officially opened to the public!
This weekend we enjoyed the annual Puerto Rican Flag Raising and Scholarship Awards Ceremony at City Hall - a proud, time honored tradition.
Thank you to the Hoboken Puerto Rican Cultural Committee, led by Raul Morales, Sr. and Jr., and congrats to this year’s scholarship winners.
The last time the Knicks won the championship was .... May 10, 1973, which is the day I was born!
I've waited literally my entire life for them to win again. A long wait, but so, so worth it.
Congratulations, Knicks!
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 53 YEARS, THE KNICKS ARE NBA CHAMPIONS 🏆
New York defeats San Antonio 4-1 in the NBA Finals, capturing their third championship in franchise history!
Jalen Brunson of the @nyknicks is the second player in NBA history to score 45+ points on the road in a title-clinching victory.
The other was Michael Jordan at Utah in 1998.
The energy, the excitement, and the anticipation were all on full display last night as we cheered on Team USA! 🇺🇸
So proud to see New Jersey at the center of the World Cup experience. Thank you to Mayor Solomon for hosting an amazing kickoff event and creating such a memorable celebration. Looking forward to welcoming the world to our region!
Stopped by Texas Arizona to honor Hoboken Business Alliance Board Member Tara Mullins with a proclamation and thank Truly for the support of the HBA with a $10,000 donation to benefit our local establishments ahead of the World Cup! Congratulations to Tara, the HBA, and thank you to Truly for recognizing that Hoboken is a top destination to watch the matches!
Thank you Ms. Rachel for coming to New Jersey and visiting Delaney Hall. We need more voices of compassion standing with the detainees and their families. Her compassion and the fighting spirit of the families will always win over injustice.
A wonderful tradition that I’m thrilled is continuing - the painting of the Pride flag next to City Hall on Washington Street.
The Hoboken Pride Committee, established by Executive Order when I was Mayor, has made our city proud by always doing a phenomenal job organizing this event and so many other Pride celebrations throughout the community. Their work sends a clear message that Hoboken will always be a welcoming city for our LGBTQ+ community and a safe space for all of our residents.
It’s a simple question: do we want jobs that pollute our air, fuel the climate crisis, and put New Jersey families at risk?
@NJAssemblyGOP would rather protect profits of their corporate fossil fuels donors than invest in New Jersey’s future. The truth is that clean energy is one of the fastest-growing job sectors in America, and the climate superfund act will create jobs by funding infrastructure, resilience, and environmental cleanup projects while holding accountable the corporations killing our planet.
We can have good-paying jobs and a livable planet. I’m tired of Republicans telling us we can’t. We can create jobs, grow our economy, and build a cleaner, healthier future for New Jersey.
During yesterday's Climate Superfund Act hearing, @Dennis_Hart noted that Chevron, Hess, Valero and Sunoco all left New Jersey.
@RaviBhalla's response? "Good."
When @MikeInganamort asked about the jobs that left with them, Bhalla doubled down: "We don't want those jobs."
For the families who depended on those paychecks, that's a remarkable thing to hear from a New Jersey lawmaker.
Listen to the exchange. 👇
@NJAssemblyGOP@GovSherrillNJ@NJAIJ@MaketheRoadNJ We're fighting for access to legal services that gives our residents due process and equal rights under the law. Fundamental principles all Americans of both parties should share and support.
What do advocacy, protests, activism, and strikes have in common?
THEY WORK!
This is a huge milestone for the hunger strikers, and a testament that our Governor hears their demands. Let's keep the momentum up!
With the Trump administration targeting our friends, family, and neighbors, New Jersey needs to stand up and fight back. That's what the Detention Deportation Defense Initiative is for.
The DDDI provides funding for legal defense for our neighbors being targeted by ICE. It's a strong firewall against the unconstitutional actions of this rogue agency.
But our fight to protect New Jersey from ICE doesn't end here. We still need to shut down Delaney Hall and hold accountable the private prison industry making billions off of human misery. New Jersey will always stand with our residents against ICE's lawlessness.
NEWS: We are increasing funding for the Detention Deportation Defense Initiative by $12 million – for a total of $20.2 million.
We are also launching a Rapid Legal Response Initiative to expand statewide legal capacity for emergency immigration defense and support immigrant families across New Jersey.
These actions will help ensure more people in New Jersey's communities receive due process under the law and more New Jersey attorneys are mobilized to stand up for the fundamental human rights of detainees and their families.
It was my honor to join my colleagues in the Assembly and community members across New Jersey to honor Sikh Awareness and Heritage Month on the floor of the New Jersey Assembly.
The core tenets of justice, equality, and service that bind the Sikh community are also those that make New Jersey great. As the Sikh community continues to grow and prosper in our state, so do the contributions that lift up our neighbors and make New Jersey one of the best places to live anywhere in the country.
New Jersey won’t participate in corruption to pay off pro-Trump sedition.
At a time when families are struggling with high gas and grocery prices, Donald Trump wants taxpayers to bankroll insurrectionists instead of lowering costs for working people. I call on other states to follow our lead.
A trio of Democratic state legislators in New Jersey say they are drafting legislation to put a 100% tax on New Jersey residents who receive funds from President Trump’s $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund," @danieljhan_ is reporting.
According to George Washington University, there were 46 January 6 defendants from New Jersey — with most being convicted or pleading guilty.
State Senator @AndrewZwicker said he would introduce legislation in the upper chamber, with Assemblymembers @RaviBhalla and @katiebrennan_32 planning on introducing legislation in the lower chamber.
It was an honor to recognize the contributions of Sikh New Jerseyans for Sikh Heritage Month on the floor of the General Assembly last week.
I am grateful every day that the voters of LD-32 entrusted me to be one of the only Sikh Americans to serve in a state legislature anywhere in the country. It is so important that our growing community have this kind of representation in the halls of power, and myself and Assemblyman Balvir Singh don't carry that responsibility lightly.
A core tenet of Sikhism is seva, or selfless service. Public service is an integral part of my faith, and I wear it proudly everyday as an Assemblyman in Trenton.
