The internet became unstoppable because anyone could build on it - and because its architecture separated communication from processing. That’s what unlocked infinite horizontal scale.

Web3 never copied that design. Every chain today is stuck on a single execution engine, a tiny developer pool (overall 22k Web3 devs only!) and vertical scaling bottlenecks. Subnets and app chains try to scale by spinning up separate environments, but each one needs its own validator set - driving up operational costs and fragmenting security. Instead of compounding scale like the internet, they multiply overhead.

And here’s the hidden cost: most chains only survive by printing tokens. They spend billions on validators, which forces high inflation, which then creates constant sell pressure. Few earn enough in transaction fees to cover even a fraction of those costs. That’s not decentralization - it’s a treadmill.
