World Poverty Day: Why Nigeria Should Have Declared Today a Public Holiday
Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Sadly, Nigeria has become a symbol of the global poverty crisis. The rising poverty rate, from 40.1 per cent in 2019 to 56.2 per cent in 2023 and an estimated 63 per cent in 2026, shows how a country can move progressively backwards while those in authority appear unconcerned.
Millions of Nigerians are now struggling to live, to afford food, and access healthcare. Yet, government narratives often paint a different picture. What meaning does economic growth have when citizens are getting poorer, hungrier, and more insecure? Progress must be measured by improvements in people’s lives.
As poverty deepens, the government should genuinely show concern. Perhaps today should have been declared a public holiday, not for celebration, but for national reflection on how a country so richly endowed with human and natural resources has allowed poverty to overcome it.
Poverty is not Nigeria’s destiny. With competent leadership, prudent management of public resources, investment in education and healthcare, and support for agriculture and small businesses, we can reverse this trend.
A new Nigeria where no citizen goes to bed hungry and where every citizen lives in dignity is POssible and OK. -PO
When politicians want to sign deals worth millions of dollars, they take their children along. When they want to snatch ballot boxes and vandalize properties, they remember you and your children.
The government is owing doctors money. The doctors negotiate, beg, appeal for money they are owed- government turns a blind eye. Doctors have no option but to down tools as they are too poor to even go to work.
People start dying.
Due to the government’s decisions.
And the people blame the doctors- who are equally victims of the animals in government,
A lunatic deranged government that has no money to pay health workers, but has billions to buy campaign buses and fund election rallies.
What a country. What a joke.
At this point, if you are mentally stable there is no way you will still have the guts to keep defending Tinubu or APC.
A simple promise of 30 days “discount” was betrayed in just 6 days.
Again, if you don’t have generational mental disorder, why would you be defending this kind of gross irresponsibility? Why???🤦🏽
Ire o✌🏾

“Why are we quick to blame doctors? Are we supposed to use our oath to feed our kids? Don’t we shop in the same markets as you? Don’t our kids attend the same schools?”

Fix three things in Nigeria: EDUCATION, RULE OF LAW, and RELIABLE ELECTRICITY.
Get these three right, and the foundations for national prosperity will begin to fall into place.
Every presidential candidate should be challenged to present a credible, measurable plan for delivering all three.
Nigeria doesn’t lack potential. It lacks functioning systems.

Fellow Lagosians,
At ₦2k per meal, it will cost you ₦6k per day, and therefore ₦8,700,000 to eat three meals a day for 4yrs. These are not square meals o, just "manage".
If you have foolishly decided to sell your vote for less than ₦8.7m, you're an even bigger ozuor than imagined.
As I have said repeatedly, @GRVlagos and I have plans to use everything Lagos State has - our population, our waterways, even our refuse - to make Lagosians more prosperous and live a life of abundance.
We will use our organic waste to generate biogas for electricity, and Lagosians will be employed in those facilities.
We will use the waste product of our biogas production facilities as fertilizer to produce much more food and significantly reduce the cost of food.
We will burn our inorganic waste to generate more electricity, and even more Lagosians will be employed to run those facilities.
We will recycle the waste product from the incinerators as building materials.
We will provide free, qualitative education for all children of Lagos Taxpayers', to university level.
We will provide free, accessible and comprehensive Healthcare to children and the elderly, initially, whilst drastically reducing the overall cost of healthcare to everyone else.
We will provide a minimum of 100,000 high quality, yet affordable homes in four years to Lagosians, with LOW INTEREST mortgages.
We will reduce the Average Commute Time (the amount of time spent in traffic), by at least 50% within our first 18 months in traffic, whilst simultaneously reducing the cost of public transport.
Make a conscious, strategic decision today, to invest in a future where you will no longer struggle to feed yourself, much less your family.
Vote for a future where you can start achieving your dreams, hopes and aspirations, and begin to realistically dream bigger dreams.
Vote for a future where you and your children are much safer and much more secure in ANY part of Lagos State, because we will provide much better welfare for all security agents working in Lagos State, starting from much better residential accomodation, to better working facilities and conditions, to much better welfare.
Vote for @GRVlagos. Vote for ADC.
If we all work together, we can Make Èkó Great Again.
Warmest Regards,
Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi
ADC Lagos State Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate

There’s nothing that triggers me like seeing kidnapped victims being dehumanized and begging for their lives. All of you sympathizers of this govt that can’t even call them out, Allah ya tsine maku.
Your Bible doesn't say fight sexual immorality.
It says flee.
Run. Not stand your ground. Not manage it. Not install an accountability app and white-knuckle through another Tuesday night.
Flee.
"Flee fornication." 1 Corinthians 6:18
You know why God didn't say fight?
Because the men who tried to fight it are the same men who lost everything.
Samson could kill a lion with his bare hands. Rip city gates off their hinges. Slaughter a thousand men with a jawbone.
He couldn't say no to Delilah. She had his head shaved while he slept on her knees. The strongest man who ever lived ended up blind, chained, grinding grain like an animal.
David killed Goliath as a teenager. Wrote the Psalms. God called him "a man after mine own heart."
He saw a woman bathing and couldn't look away. Nine months later he'd committed adultery, murdered her husband, and buried a son.
Solomon asked God for wisdom and got more than any man in history.
Seven hundred wives. Three hundred concubines. They turned his heart after other gods. The wisest man who ever lived died an idolater.
The strongest fell.
The wisest fell.
The man after God's own heart fell.
"Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." 1 Corinthians 10:12
You're not stronger than Samson. You're not wiser than Solomon. You're not closer to God's heart than David.
Stop fighting. Start running.
