To my white, western, non Arab friends: Sorry if hearing about the war on Palestinians, the destruction of Lebanon, or the racism we face globally isn't easy for you, but you can’t pick and choose the parts of my culture you like — the food, the music, the warmth of our people — and turn a blind eye to the struggles that define our lives. If you want to be my friend, you need to stand against the hate, injustice and violence constantly waged against us. This is who I am — an Arab, a whole Arab, not for your consumption, but for my people’s survival.

So actually, no—I’m not sorry. This is my truth, and I will never apologize for fighting for my people.
