@_Matt_Bowers_ Why the Benson organization is trying to block Matt Bowers moving FURTHER away from Benson’s Chevy store in Kenner? Mrs Benson should be happy Matt Bowers is moving further away!!! Presently the Benson and Bowers Chevy stores are real close! Bowers moving is a positive for all.
@_Matt_Bowers_ Moving to the heart of Metairie is a huge plus for the residents! Once the store is relocated to the planned location, the former K-Mart store; customers will be able to purchase and repair Chevy’s without having to drive to the other end of Vets.
🚨Professional news: I’ll be transitioning in a few weeks to a new beat @NOLAnews covering federal law enforcement and its impact on Louisiana during Trump 2.0. If you’re a federal employee or someone who works in proximity to feds, please reach out (signal: Jamesfinn.82)
One of Louisiana history’s most colorful characters, Governor Earl Long, liked playing the ponies as much as he enjoyed playing politics and he could just as often be found at the racetrack as at the State Capitol.
But Uncle Earl didn’t just bet on the Kentucky Derby and other big races but often started his day at the Governor’s Mansion by opening up the newspaper not to read the articles on news and politics but to check the odds at racetracks all over the country and call in his bets with bookies.
The Governor frequently left Baton Rouge to spend the afternoon at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans, where he was sometimes joined by Times-Picayune sportswriter and fellow horse racing enthusiast Buddy Dilberto, who usually had a few pieces of prized information from the stables for Louisiana’s chief executive.
When the 1956 Democratic National Convention was selecting a vice-presidential candidate, Governor Long skipped the balloting entirely to go to the racetrack, allowing Alexandria attorney Camille Gravel and Judge Edmund Reggie of Crowley to swing the Louisiana delegation in support of Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts. #LaLege #LaGov
🚨BREAKING: Trump abruptly canceled an interview on his economic plans with business channel CNBC, just like he did with 60 Minutes. This comes as Trump is facing increasing scrutiny over his obvious cognitive decline.
