PG: The principal reason is that the Kurds declined to join the fight. Kurds are aware of Americans 51 years history of using the Kurds for military actions and then betraying them.

@jacksonhinkle Their only advantage is their air forces. In the ground they would be swallowed by the Iranian army. Forget the Afghanistan or Iraq war !
