If we divide the S&P 500 by the fed’s balance sheet, the line is basically flat since 2008.

The correlation coefficient between central bank quantitative easing and the price of stock indexes is nearly 1.

The money printed by the Fed, because of the structure of the Open Market Operations, is plugged directly into the Treasury markets, and from there, flows into equities and derivatives.

This has served to primarily enrich the asset owners, financial institutions, and wealthy elites who own the majority of the stock market anyways.

The entire rally has been an illusion, financed by the Fed and maintained through QE.

The 3-week realized vol of the momentum factor is now 4x the vol of the S&P 500. Not 1997, not 2000, not 2008, not the 2021 unwind. Never.

Translation: the index is quiet while the stocks inside it swing like it's a crisis. Winners get dumped, losers get squeezed, and the rotation eats momentum traders alive.

🔴THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY SCARY STATISTIC:

Consensus estimates for S&P 500 earnings over the next 12 months hit $365 per share, nearly double the cyclically adjusted figure (past 10-year earnings adjusted for inflation) of $188, according to Bloomberg.

As a result, forward 1-year earnings now exceed cyclically adjusted earnings by more than 90%, the widest gap on record.

By comparison, this metric peaked at ~65% during the 2000 Dot-Com Bubble.

In other words, the gap between what Wall Street expects companies to earn next year and what they have earned on average over the past decade has never been wider.

At the same time, trailing 1-year earnings now exceed cyclically adjusted earnings by more than 60%, versus an average gap of just 11% since 1881.

Investors are pricing in an earnings boom unlike anything seen in modern market history at already record valuations.
