I resigned after another company offered me a salary that was almost double what I was making.

When I handed my boss the resignation letter, he didn't try to negotiate.

He didn't ask me to stay.

He simply smiled, shook my hand and said,

"Congratulations. You've earned it."

I was honestly disappointed.

After seven years of giving that company everything I had...

That was it?

As I packed my desk, he stopped by one last time and quietly said,

"Before you leave today, come and see me. There's something I need to give you."

I thought it was going to be a goodbye card.
