I’m obviously really angry with this government, after seeing the budget announcement. But I am also feeling a deep level of frustration with OSSTF - all education worker unions, really - and what feels like a number of wasted years, facing what we are now facing today.
It is empty when politicians call for healing and peace without stating antiracist policies they want to institute. Words bring momentary healing and peace. Policy change brings lasting healing and peace by rooting out the racism suffocating so many people. We want to breathe.

What is happening in k-12 schools is NOT Intentionally designed-online learning. It is remote access, emergency digital learning. The only way we would have online learning is if Educators had the time & prod learning to develop online learning environments/ resources. We didn’t.
This. Closing the park will make the problem worse. People need space - particularly if you do not have a yard - and we know contagion happens indoors, not out (this is close to definitive). Adapt streets for people! This law and order approach being bandied about is misplaced.
Here’s the Toronto Sun in a nutshell. For months now they’ve been casting doubt on everything about the pandemic (blaming China, blaming Trudeau, wanting Dr. Tam fired, calling all measures draconian, etc) and now they’re yelling at people for not taking the pandemic seriously!
I must confess that, after everything we’ve seen in the last four years, I’m still a little bit shocked to see the American right deciding 100,000 dead is an acceptable price for being able to go shopping, and that the elderly don’t matter because “they were going to die anyway.“
