@FoxNews Interesting trivia note. Between the rate of fire of the fireworks shells and the total width of the launch sites, the DC fireworks display in 2026 had a barrage over FIVE TIMES as dense as the largest artillery bombardment in history, the Somme in WW1!
@MatthewCappucci NWS Lincoln's Area Forecast Discussion included this gem: "Beyond Wednesday, the next best chance of rain and storms comes Sunday but we need to survive through Wednesday before details can be clarified."
I don't think I've ever seen WFOs all but tell us to kiss our ass goodbye
@NWSChicago This event in Streator meets all the criteria in the Tornado Emergency guidance from NWS, why are you hesitating to pull the trigger? Do we need @NWSNorman to overrule you?
@NWSSPC So, are Thornton and Guyer not on speaking terms or something? Why would you issue a PDS TOA and then not adjust the Day 1 Outlook five minutes later to reflect it?
@u3Z4UhZAtZ96658@NANOSANsub@Lo_demon666 It did... in 2003. This one was shot up over Iraq, and is from a unit that gave up its A-10s in 2008. The fairing itself is on display in a museum in Kalamazoo, Michigan, just down the road from the unit's base in Battle Creek.
@NANOSANsub@Lo_demon666 This is definitely not from Iran. I believe that's from an A-10 that famously took a heavy beating during Iraqi Freedom in 2003. The logo on the nacelle is from a unit that hasn't had A-10s since 2008. The nacelle itself is on display in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
@HomeMediaX@MCCCANM Iranian suicide drones have a range of over 1000 miles. They could have struck any base in the region while being launched from within Iran, as evidenced by them being used against Israel, further away. The damage fairly screams midair collision, wing on tail tip.
@FPSzustak@MCCCANM that our tankers are assigned to. The number identifying which ARW it's assigned to is on the boom control surface on the opposite side. Probably 940, as that's the Air Force Reserve tanker unit based at Beale AFB, the 940th Air Refueling Wing. (2/2)
@FPSzustak@MCCCANM No, it's not AI generated. There is this fancy new invention called a "floodlight" that the USAF uses to light up airplanes for maintenance and damage examinations. And that's not "ARMY." That's "ARW," short for "Air Refueling Wing," the designation of the unit type (1/2)
@bavcit@MCCCANM@AuroraIntel Opinion from someone who probably doesn't even know what a "spar" is, in the aviation context, vagueposting to try to imply that this was a shootdown? Well, that can be disregarded out of hand.
@mcmonkeymc@MCCCANM@AuroraIntel Stop trying to make everything political. There's an air crash, there will be an investigation to figure out what the hell went wrong. Politicians, on *both* sides of the aisle, meanwhile, will say idiotic things to try to win votes. These things are not connected at all.
@linette_colon@Kevinmc837@weatherchannel Just saw this on the air. Gonna point out that it's almost certainly a chunk of ice pulled out of a cooler somewhere. The previous record for IL was 4.75 inches, and the NWS says they don't have any claims above 6.0 from Tuesday.
@NWSChicago You've got a massive CC drop in Lake Village and multiple chaser streams showing a large wedge and one of the ugliest hooks I've ever seen. What are you waiting for before issuing the TORE? The official damage survey? This is life-threatening.
@Archer83Able The scary part? They don't even *care* that they're contrailing. Normally, a warplane leaving contrails like that would be grounds for the pilot to get a wall-to-wall counselling session later. Iran's air defenses are so degraded it doesn't even matter.
