Shout Out from SWBH’s Heartbeat magazine. Community heart failure team now working 7 days and reduce admissions several times a week. Saves money and best for patients.
A 2020 highlight was our home-based rehab for heart failure study (REACH-HF) winning a BMJ award. Despite my involvement in the design and SWBH patients forming 25% of the evidence base, we have yet to implement it locally - a resolution for 2021 to do so. https://t.co/clmF0xzmZz
@scfaloon @JenHancox1 Sorry you’re leaving, best wishes for your future careers which I’m sure will be very successful. Remember, if you can cope with work on City AMU during a crisis, you should be able to manage anything that medicine can throw at you!
Well done! Does of course equally apply to Jacqui herself, as well as Jo and the rest of the team. They’ve done great work keeping heart failure patients home during the pandemic. We need the redeployed team members back now to prevent burnout.

@TobyLewis_SWBH A new hospital has been the aim of the Trust since SWBH was founded in 2002. Running 2 emergency departments, duplicating facilities and transporting patients between sites is inefficient and compromises care. MMH needs to open!
Telemedicine and specialist nursing can save lives and reduce hospitalisation in heart failure. This study was done in Germany but I’m sure we can learn lessons. Computer literacy may be a problem locally!
@rosieICM @scfaloon Certainly complex, many women may very reasonably decide not to do managerial roles - I myself only took up a time-limited one for the department’ sake. I have largely filled in (successful) applications for my wife and pushed her to send them in, & she’s not a shrinking violet..
@scfaloon Sarah, this may seem distant to trainees, but consider why female seniors don’t hold as many excellence awards as they should - not I think due to misogyny but due to their not applying, citing ‘I’m only doing my job’. I’m not sure how to right this, confidence may help...
