@iamalmostlegend Was definitely this way in the 90s in the Whitehaven/38816 area of Memphis TN. White flight kicked into hyper drive -moved to 38115/ middle class blacks moved in. Then, lack of new dev, etc caused the same group to chase that "new" to 38115- (again, white flight ). Cycle contines
@NakilW I get it. Its hard to own your block, clean your streets, with your own resources, time and $ though. Esp if County/City say they aren't taking on new contracts. Been cutting Appling Rd at times by myself. Bellevue dont care. City/County dont either
@CREAMYCOLE@NLootin Agreed. Its like when a E3 takes that bonus+,car loan for the Charger, live fast, hotels, military ID, weeknd trips, package store, living for the 1st and 15th - then the dealership calling your commanding officer due to failure to pay the bill.
@NakilW The powers that be know aesthetically Memphis is the last "old southern gaurd " left, compared to our current (and past) peer cities. Even Bham, Little Rock & Louisville waking up.
@MRobinsonJRSM Both have their pros and cons. But in terms of growth (unjustly by the state Govt) look at a post card of Nashville & Mem from 1995. Then, look at them today.
@BradCarson@GfedGoCrazy Nope. It wasnt just the Move remarks(foul) +The hotel situation=which created a broader conversation on the city's need to drastically improve amenities/vibrancy and aesthetics of our dwtwn core. Long overdue. Badly.
Gilbert Arenas @NoChillGilZero reacted to my video from the Memphis Westin
Best piece of content from this saga imo. He takes questions and adds a ton of context on what players look for in a hotel
Appreciate Gil making this, and we WILL be at more NBA hotels to compare
@ItsShabba12 At this point, just put everyone in Break out rooms.1: The Move Team Remark/Impact 2: Need to Modernize our Downtown 3: Higher End Amenities 4. Financial Players 5. Politics. 6. History Lesson 7. Where The Locals Go/Do 11.Water
Then we all come back into the main room with Plans
