No, the President doesn’t have a magical lever under the Resolute Desk labeled “GAS PRICES.” Oil trades in a global market.

But presidents DO make decisions that affect American energy production, infrastructure, investment and ultimately how exposed we are when the global market goes sideways.

Remember Iran?

In 2016, the Obama administration settled a decades-old Iranian claim for $1.7 billion—$400 million in Iranian funds plus roughly $1.3 billion in interest. At the same time, the Iran nuclear deal lifted nuclear-related sanctions and gave Iran access to tens of billions of dollars in previously frozen Iranian assets.

Democrats and Republicans have preached for years that Iran is a existential threat, yet a sitting US president handed them money without congressional approval and sanctions were removed at the same time...

Talk about a parting gift: this was unfolding while Obama was heading out the White House back door and Trump was coming through the front.

Have you stopped and asked yourself why?

Also, why the cost of our gas has increased due to the global market when we were heading toward energy independence in the prior Trump administration?
