Exploring the relations between urban form resilience & the governance of urban form..
Examining-Questioning-Analysing- The Bishopsgate Goodsyard & context
As everyone is in exhausted lull, I thought I'd share cover for my upcoming edited collection with Cesare Di Feliciantonio. It's been a long time in the making and imo we've got an excellent set of chapters. Thanks so much to @PaulineMcGuirk and @LorettaCLees for their blurbs!!
The Bishopsgate Goodsyard site spans four city blocks and covers an area of aprox 4.4 hectares.
As it bridges all three neighborhoods, the development should focus on using this site as a way to provide a solution to London’s housing crisis and gentrification.
"The redesigned Goodsyard"
-Will it stitch the communitys together?
-Is the sites density enough?
-Is it still an island within the city, not connecting to its surroundings?
- Dose it deal with the diverse nature on the city fringe?
-Dose the architectural language work?
@matt_shoreditch@goodsyardlondon@ballymore@Hammersonplc By the looks, it's prompting using the FIFA recommended pitch size, and as it says more than 3 pitches, sort of adds up to this. But yes by adding the 'international' it's making it sound more grand, but not incorrect either.
@matt_shoreditch@goodsyardlondon@ballymore@Hammersonplc Haha.. Marketing 🤭🤔 never 😂
Not all pitch sizes are the same!
By football law pitches can be anywhere from 90/120m long by 45/90m wide, international or not! With the recommended pitch @ 105m x 68m @ 7140m2
5.7a = 23,067m2
7140 x 3 = 21,420m2
The Proposed Proposal
"Heritage assets to be retained, restored and celebrated" embracing history to create a new chapter for the #BishopsgateGoodsyard
