When cycling into town the other day I happened to cycle by Reading Bike Hub, which only opened last month – so I stopped by to pump up my tires. While chatting with the team they said that they’re looking for volunteers. They’re based on Kings Street for anyone interested!
Yesterday we officially named a local landmark in Reading as Windrush Roundabout. This is a public tribute to the Windrush Generation and the incredible contributions they have made to our town.

Residents are rightly concerned about developers planning to buy plots of land on Kennet Meadows.
I asked the Environment Secretary to meet me and local residents to discuss this important issue.
I was pleased that he agreed to a meeting.
Proud to support a clean energy revolution at Labour conference for @serauk but also radical and brave action for clean air, clear skies, a rich land and safe rivers.

I welcome the swift action taken by the new government to scrap the Ofsted single word judgment of schools, and its replacement with an evaluation of a range of areas giving a fairer and more accurate understanding of school performance.
Pakistan Independence day at the Reading Pakistan Community Centre was a wonderful event and it was good to be able to show my support for the local Pakistani community.

Despite delays and funding challenges, the #WesternRailLinkToHeathrow remains the no.1 infrastructure priority for the Thames Valley region.
To boost our economy and environment, this 4 miles rail link, promised by the last government, needs to be built.
