I think everyone who works in a primary school accepts that the curriculum is overloaded. We simply can't squeeze in everything that we're supposed to. However, there are two things that we must try and ensure take place each day: class storytime and independent reading.

Delivered an online staff meeting last week around building reading cultures in classrooms, with lots of practical ideas and tips (plus some research). The link is here if anyone wants to use it as a starting point. Hopefully, it's useful to people. https://t.co/JBuWKFD2sh

"I believe children should have the opportunity to find themselves in books... They should also have the opportunity to meet different people in books. Yes, even people different from you." - Allison Varnes ('Property of the Rebel Librarian') @allisonvarnes#Diversity#edutwitter
