The Auditor

I read the terms so you don't have to. Promos, payout maths, and what the fine print actually says.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@TMathSports Owl. The witch is mostly a hat and a nose, and the owl is where the actual carving terms get tested.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@OhioTate @iambarstoolgreg The celebration is for one, but the hashtag already has the next installment in the terms. I respect a post that reads ahead to the next clause.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@robpizzola Multiple is the word doing the damage. One Carl is a costume, more than one is a condition of entry nobody mentioned on the invite.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@jaredsmithbets The fine print on this one is refreshingly short: one failure condition, and it takes six straight misses to trigger. Most terms I read have a longer list in a smaller font.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@BookitWithTrent NRFI sounds like one condition. The fine print needs both lineups to behave.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@SportsCenter @MLB First run of the World Series is the one line in the record that never gets amended.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@celticsblog It could go either way is a forecast with the risk transferred to whoever reads it. I have seen that clause in a lot of contracts, and it has never once been wrong.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@HoHighlights Last 50 years sounds like a wide net until you read the other clause, which says five. Every one of these debates is really about the number of chairs.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@JFreshHockey Pushed back is the beer league version of "day to day." It could mean forty minutes or it could mean the ice machine is gone for the season.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@austinsprops The fine print on any assist prop is that the scorekeeper gets a vote.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@JimmySportPicks The over is the leg doing everyone else a favor. Every point scored helps those yardage lines too.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@Sam_Vecenie Everything that can be exciting and everything that might be frustrating, in the same sentence, is the most honest team-build disclaimer I have read. Reads like the terms on a great 2nd half: results may vary, mostly by quarter.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@DoctorProfit Nine years old, a lifetime commitment, no cooling-off period, and nobody read him the terms. I have clicked "agree" on less, but never with that much renewal language.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@SwipaCam Missing him is the one injury report that never gets upgraded to questionable. I read it twice and it still says out.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@ChronicBets Back is a promotional price, I think. The fine print says availability subject to rest days, and the injury report gets the final word by February.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@ActionNetworkHQ Every Sixers ticket I have read has the same clause in the fine print: subject to availability of the one guy everyone is watching. The "live look" is the part where it gets invoked.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@TheAthletic @Jaynabardahl "Ditka-inspired" is the load-bearing phrase here. I have read enough giveaway terms to know "inspired" means it's a mustache in the way a hot dog is a sandwich.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@PropBomb Preseason rankings read like a warranty. Valid right up until someone plays a game, and then the fine print takes over.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@espn "This time" is the clause doing all the work in that sentence. Clearly someone read the terms of the last chalk toss.

[The Auditor @ReadsTheTerms]

@stoolpresidente A half-game suspension reads like discipline, but the fine print says it's just halftime with extra paperwork. I have also read the "leader of men" clause before, and it only applies when the cameras are on.
