"Boom," meanwhile, is a sweepstakes/DFS site. It is not licensed anywhere in the United States to take sports bets.
All of its NFL markets are basically single game player props.
There were none listed for Hurts this week because he was not going to play.
And house rules require them to refund all bets if the person never plays.
No possible financial gain for any alleged or inferred manipulation concerning Hurts

Well, yesterday, Georgia set a single-day record for early voting.
It was all a lie driven by narrative and hysteria.
Yet no one in the media or at MLB will ever be held to account.

🚨BREAKING: The @NBA and major sportsbooks have agreed to ban several bet types on the eve of the new season that begins Tuesday.
The NBA remains reported close to a deal with federal regulators and prediction market operators concerning integrity, marketing, and data sharing.
Among the betting wagers no longer being offered by the books that partner with the league, as reported by @DavidPurdum & @ShamsCharania:
✅ Parlays with multiple unders on the same player
✅ “First of” markets (opening tip, first shot, rebound, assist, steal)
✅ Unders on players expected to play under 12 min/game
Why now?
The season begins Tuesday. The NBA has been talking with gaming companies about tightening wagers after recent major betting scandals for several months. These single-player markets are easy to influence, and they’re hard to monitor until after the fact.
Background
🏀Jontay Porter was banned for life in 2024 after the NBA found he’d limited his own playing time in games and disclosed health info to bettors. He later pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud conspiracy.
🏀 Terry Rozier was arrested in Oct. 2025 in a federal probe. Prosecutors alleged he tipped off bettors that he’d exit a 2023 game early, so they could bet unders on his stats. He’s pleaded not guilty.
📰 Previously
The NBA and major sports books agreed to no longer offer player props on 10-day or two-way contract players, end turnover props, foul-related bets, and missed free throws bets.
#NEW: Following her final debate against #Republican Mike Minogue @mikeminoguema, #Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey @MassGovernor refused to honestly answer whether she knew about her disgraced former aide LaMar Cook’s violent criminal history, including 2001 driven shooting charges, before hiring him. We reported at the Herald @bostonherald in December that a public records request proved Mass. State Police informed her of this. I asked Healey about this clearly and directly several times, to which she kept falling back on “firing him before he was even arraigned” on his serious state drug and gun charges in October 2025. Cook was arrested yesterday on federal #SNAP and wire fraud charges.

🚨 BREAKING: Massachusetts sends first-in-the-nation letter asking sports betting operators about their use of AI
(First reported here that the @MassGamingComm would be looking into the matter)
Executive Director Dean Serpa is asking every licensed sports wagering operator asking how they use AI and machine learning in marketing and promotions.
It follows a Sept 24 directive from MGC Chair Jordan Maynard to have staff dig into the issue.
Responses are due Nov 3.
Participation is “voluntary,” and the MGC says answers will be kept confidential under state law and used to shape future AI policy.
But when the MGC asked operators to "voluntarily" show up for a meeting about player limits and none of them showed, it triggered fury across the MGC.
If operators don't act, the MGC will simply move ahead without their input. When a regulator sends 8 sections of detailed questions to every operator, it’s a safe bet rules are coming.
The definition of “AI” is huge. It covers any algorithm, predictive model, automated decision-making, profiling, “personalization,” or “optimization” tool, whether fully automated or with a human in the loop. Calling it something else won’t get operators out of answering.
What the MGC wants to know:
📊 What data feeds the models. Betting frequency, wager size, deposits and withdrawals, net wins and losses, revenue generated by the patron, session length, VIP status, and response to past promos. The key question is whether patron losses are used as an input, and whether sudden jumps in betting, deposits, or losses affect who gets marketed to.
🎯 Who gets targeted. Do systems score and rank patrons by how likely they are to respond? Are customers segmented by predicted value or predicted spending? Does ML predict who will deposit, bet more, or come back to the app?
🎁 What offer they get, and how much. Can two patrons get different bonus bets, odds boosts, or deposit matches based on their behavior? Does the system set the dollar value of each offer?
⏰ When and how often. Does AI decide when to send a promo, including after someone stops betting or cuts back? Can it trigger offers off recent losses or deposits? Can it ramp up messaging frequency based on how a patron responds?
🧪 Behavioral optimization. Do operators A/B test promos to find what drives the most wagering? Is marketing tuned to predicted lifetime value, with “highly profitable” and “unprofitable” patrons treated differently? Are patrons with big recent losses treated differently from similar bettors?
The responsible gaming angle is the heart of it. Regulators are asking whether operators test their models for the risk of encouraging problem gambling. They also want to know whether risk indicators are used to cut off marketing, or whether the same signals (more losses, more frequent betting) can make someone more likely to get a promo. If operators say no, the MGC wants to know what controls prevent it. For vendor-supplied models, it wants to know what assurances the vendor gave.
Human oversight and explainability. Who in the company is ultimately responsible for AI use? Do humans review or override model decisions? And a pointed one: if a regulator asked why Patron A got Promotion X on a given date, could the operator show the data, model, and factors behind it? Operators are also asked whether they can tell what share of a patron’s promos were AI-influenced.
Why it matters: Massachusetts is signaling that the next frontier of sports betting oversight isn’t just ads and bonuses, but the algorithms deciding who sees them. Expect operators to scramble, and expect other states to watch closely.
It is fascinating how Democrats like Hochul, Tish James get absolutely annihilated in debates when they are asked follow up questions, get challenged on their answers and can't work off a script
