This entire issue is MLBs fault. They wrote a shitty rule with tons of loopholes and now they’re making it up as they go when players start exploiting the rule.

They screwed up and they’re trying to make the players look bad for it.

But more importantly, I haven’t seen one pitch clock violation called on a pitcher who stares down a hitter for 6-7 seconds and then starts his windup with 1 second on the pitch clock.

So why is Jose Caballero being singled out for doing the hitters version of the same thing?

If the league wants to cut down on players manipulating the pitch clock, that’s fine. But it can’t just be Caballero getting singled out. Needs to be called on pitchers as well.

And the rule should be fixed so this ambiguity isn’t there anymore.

Caballero plays the system, sure, but the MLB needs to just change the rule. They changed the rule with Stanton asking for time and not moving from the batter box after it became an “issue”.

The league office saying they are done with it doesn’t matter because they have not changed the rule. That’s like the NBA league office being done with Jokic fumbling the ball so he doesn’t inbound the ball right away to waste more time, but not changing the rule officially. You can’t officiate and penalize players for not breaking the rules lol.

So Manfred, his joke of a league office, and the clown umpires conspired to illegally and improperly enforce their new made-up rule today, and without informing anyone of their arbitrary rule change.
