@PointChaser@garyleff As you later corrected, STS is about 50 miles from Napa…but during weekends and harvest season, much longer drive time than from CCR. And “Concord/Napa” certainly better than RyanAir calling Beauvais “Paris - Beauvais,” or Girona as “Barcelona.”
@garyleff@SouthwestAir@TWU556@AmericanAir@APFAunity Maybe WN mgmt is making a strategic play, knowing AA is In worse financial position. So even if WN labor cost is higher with retro pay, if it squeezes AA into matching, may create WN opportunities to limit AA growth. Smart.
@steve_hoge @nytimes@bxchen That being said, I am the type of traveler who makes very few calls when international; data usage is my main concern, and for me, FI absolutely wins from that perspective. Of course, if one is primarily a “phone call person” than a “data person,” the value prop may be different.
@steve_hoge @nytimes@bxchen I suppose it depends upon one’s definition of “quite expensive” vs “priced fairly,” juxtaposed against what legacy carriers charge all-in, and also comparing the the time/cost value of getting a new SIM (e or physical), and not using one’s primary phone number.
@nytimes@bxchen Alternative to eSIMs & physical SIMs altogether: If one lives in an area where Google Fi (operating on the backbone of TMob in the US) service is sufficient, use Fi when abroad. No roaming fees or hassle. Data is priced per usage @ same rates as in the US calls priced fairly.
@pizzainmotion@WandrMe@tebfunk I *almost* feel like this may be the appropriate time to pull out those pix of Seth and me at FTU Seattle and also at office hours on the High Line from several years ago.
@zlwichter@mommypoints@usatodaytravel I guess I have a reputation for spontaneity within the community 🤷🏽♂️ What, people don’t “plan” trips to the Panama Canal while driving down the freeway, then change directions to the airport, or decide to go to Machu Picchu 6 days beforehand? 😛 Thanks for the plug @mommypoints
