@wheresagnes@ourmartyredlady Sounds like your symptoms tend towards the somatic side, so that’s probably why you don’t emphasise that much with the comic
@wheresagnes@ourmartyredlady It’s anxiety. Ever tried to sleep and suddenly you get caught in a loop thinking about all the bad/cringe things you did? Feels like that.
@supersourfrank @morriissey I feel ya. Been hanging and fucking with a guy where I thought it was a leading somewhere. He told me I was just a fuck buddy to him and he had no feelings for me after we’ve been together almost every day for 2-3 months.
@Celebrim42@__Scipio__ Himmel serves as a pretty good example. He’s kind, defends the weak, mindful of others, noble, but he’s not a very complex character with any inner conflicts.
He’s not a bad character either. I enjoy his presence a lot in the series, but he’s pretty straight forward.
@Celebrim42@__Scipio__ Well, I think you’d be hard pressed to argue that a morally good hero makes for a more complex character than a morally grey character.
With the scaling of good and evil comes complexity and nuance, and more often than not, human emotions, which brings moral dilemmas too.
@Celebrim42@__Scipio__ I dont think that’s true. No one hates a hero.
Sometimes characters that are just “good” turn out to be flat and unsympathetic characters, which makes for an uninteresting characters.
Himmel is a good example of a well written good guy tho.
@paguortiz1@GrenkiDesuNe@Sniper79604719@NBinted And you didn't understand what individual meant in this context. It didn't mean that you can't critique the morals of other people.
It meant that people don't just reflect the morals of the society that they live in.
@paguortiz1@GrenkiDesuNe@Sniper79604719@NBinted I'm sorry, but I will critique Rudeus if he got convinced that slavery is alright by living in a society where slavery is practised.
Again, I can understand not being able to change the system, but I cannot understand him not saying no to engaging in slavery himself.
@paguortiz1@Sauzed_Up@swirly_fries@GrenkiDesuNe@Sniper79604719@NBinted I think the slavery thing here is just a vehicle for pointing out that there definetly is some inexcuseable flaws to his character, despite his role as an anti-hero / hero.
These flaws being his apathy towards other humans and his predatory behavior towards children.
@paguortiz1@Sauzed_Up@swirly_fries@GrenkiDesuNe@Sniper79604719@NBinted I think there's an element of people who look up to Rudeus for being someone who "made it" after being reborn.
ie. he got the girl(s), excelled at magic, completed whole adventures.
The critique here is a bit warranted then, since Rudeus represents something good to some people.
@swirly_fries@GrenkiDesuNe@Sniper79604719@NBinted Sorry but this conversation is so far removed from reality.
Someone can be neutral on people selling themselves into slavery?
The “sometimes slavery is good actually” argument isnt an argument that I want or should have to contend with.
You shouldn’t help make that argument.
@swirly_fries@GrenkiDesuNe@Sniper79604719@NBinted There’s a difference that you haven’t caught on to.
Rudeus could be against slavery and not be in a position to change anything in other cultures.
But the author seems to state Rudeus barely finds slavery bad, like Rudeus would barely have a problem owning his own slaves
@Francis_krow@NBinted “He only adapted to slavery”
How about he didn’t tho? But why hold personal beliefs when you can go find minors to date and prey upon I guess 😭
