Look at the code WIRED pulled from Flock’s own servers. Flock built an AI tool called OS Investigate.🚨👀

It accesses "commercial databases that contain Social Security numbers, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, relatives and associates." It also accesses "police case files, 911 dispatch logs, and commercial identity records." The prompts can generate dossiers ("workups") on people based purely on driving patterns, without a crime, a plate, or a name. It Can identify drivers, track patterns, find "witnesses," generate suspicion based on behavior without a target. Code was found publicly on Flock's website. 🚨

Flock is performing automated, suspicionless background checks (pulling SSNs, DOBs, relatives) using commercial databases on citizens who have committed no crime, have no warrant, and are not named in any case file. The trigger is purely an AI algorithm flagging their driving pattern.

NO officer initiates the search for the suspect, Flock's AI essentially acting as the investigator, but doing so through commercial data brokers. Flock pulls consumer reports without a permissible purpose.

Why did Flock build OS Investigate? Because selling LPR cameras is a hardware game with limits. Selling an "AI investigator" is a high-margin SaaS play. To justify the valuation ($1B+), they need to monopolize the investigative workflow. To do that, they fused LPR data (which they hold) with police records (CJI) and commercial data (SSNs). ⚠️

Why are they doing this? Because Flock’s hardware is a commodity. The cameras are just metal on a pole. The real valuation the nearly $1 billion in venture capital is in their proprietary datasets. To justify that valuation, they have to build a total surveillance map of America that links physical movement to full digital and financial identities. They cannot legally buy that data on the open market because of the FCRA. So they built an AI to force the police to pull it for them. Flock gets the fused data, the police get the dossier, and Flock gets to declare the new AI-generated identity maps as "Flock Property" under their contracts.

Flock is using the police as a legal shield to run unauthorized mass identity resolution queries for their own proprietary training and profit. The "perpetual license" terms gives Flock ownership of these AI-generated dossiers. They are building a national private surveillance database of SSNs linked to movement patterns, bypassing the FCRA by routing the queries through police terminals.🚨

Now look at their new August 2026 "Trust" updates. They announced a reduction in data retention to 7 days, but they created an exception called "Evidence Mode" where searched data is preserved instead of aging out. 🚨

Here is the trap. If they actually deleted data in 7 days, their AI prompts which ask for people "arrested more than twice in two years" would not function.🚨

The AI needs a multi-year historical window to track patterns. "Evidence Mode" is the backdoor they built to force all searched data into permanent retention so their AI can keep running. The 7-day retention is theater for the city councils. The permanent retention is the actual product.🚨

And the Audit Assistance" they say is to catch police misuse? It is a complete deception. The audit logs track the police officer. But the AI generates the lead before the officer interacts with the system. The AI does the suspicionless searching in the backend. The officer just clicks the prewritten prompt. The audit log captures the officer clicking a button, but it does not capture the unauthorized API calls Flock’s AI is making to the commercial databases to pull the SSNs. They built the logging system to cover their own corporate trail.🚨

Naw, your observations were interesting enough for me to comment on and I think it is an open question how much tinkering occurs at the various levels of genes/epigenetics/culture/spirit and their effects on what it is to be human, that the artificial low-violence aberration we are in is likely to be temporary and we need more people thinking about how the intersection of all of this plays out.

The benefits afforded by the trend towards greater centralization have been declining and I suspect a flourishing of genetic experimentation that is decentralized. The local maxima for various biological based tasks will be found, there will be more niches in the expanse and other environments (over centuries), and plenty of surplus to support non-optimized biologies (there are more dog breeds now than ever).

The western tradition of arms extends very far back, "Do not quote law to us, we carry swords," but only in America did it coalesce into the notion that individual sovereignty = ability to do violence, especially to the state.

Okay, time to explain guns to our new friends.

Every day, when I leave the house, I attach a holstered handgun to my belt, under my shirt or coat.

I would no more leave the house without a gun than I would walk around outdoors without shoes.

Is it because I "need" a gun?

No.

I live in rural Tennessee, which is state in the American south. It's very safe here. The dangerous parts of America are big cities where the local government is leftist, and they shelter illegal migrant from the third world, and won't send violent criminals to prison. Places like Chicago and New York City.

Yet, any time I leave the house, I put on a gun, knowing that I will probably never have to use it, and if I do, it will probably be on an aggressive stray dog, not a human.

So why do I do it?

Why do many other people who live around me do it?

Why do we do this so much that carrying a gun is considered totally normal? If someone spotted it, it would not even arouse a comment, much less any fear.

In fact, it is legal to carry a gun openly here, without covering it up. Covering it up is just considered polite.

So.... why?

Well, try thinking of an English nobleman, during the reign of Elizabeth the First. When he dressed to go ride to court, he would hang a slender fencing sword, called a rapier or smallsword, from his belt.

He didn't expect to be attacked.

He didn't even expect to fight a duel. And if he was challenged to a duel, he wouldn't need his sword right then. He would meet his challenger later at an agreed-upon place and time.

No, he wore his sword because it was an expression of who he was. He was a gentleman, a person of status, with the legal privilege of carrying a sword.

By carrying a sword, he asserted his rights and prerogatives as a nobleman.

In Japan, you had the same sort of thing happening. The samurai, members of the bushi class, wore the two swords not because they expected to be attacked at any moment, but because the two swords were an essential part of who he was.

So, in these two cases, weapons were carried by noblemen as an assertion of status. They had the right to do so, and they did so in order to assert, exercise, and retain the right.

Americans carry guns because every American citizen is a nobleman.

When we fought the British for our independence, that war began on April 19th, 1775, when British troops, fearing American rebelliousness, marched out from Boston to confiscate guns from people living in the surrounding countryside.

Our ancestors did not submit to this. We shot them instead, and they fled back to Boston with their tails between their legs, to cower under the cover of the guns from the warship HMS Sommerset.

Thus began several years of war.

And when we won that war, we made a country where no government, and no man, would ever be allowed to disarm the people.

No agent of the government may say to us, "I may have a gun, and you may not."

Because to say that is to say "I am a nobleman, and you are a peasant. I am a master, and you are a slave."

We are not peasants here. We are all noblemen. That is the most basic principle of what it means to be an American.

I can be impoverished, so I can to be so poor that I live in a van down by the river. But however reduced my circumstances, as an American, I still have the rights and freedoms of a nobleman, of a daimyo, because that is the basic founding idea of the nation we forged on that day.

If you come to America to visit, if you walk among us, you will pass many people carrying guns. You will not notice this. You will not see them. You will witness no violence. Everything will be normal. But the guns will be there.

Because that is who we are.

We don't carry guns to be violent. We don't wish to be rude, or to intimidate people. We keep our guns covered up.

But they are the deepest, most essential part of what it means to be American.

The exact kind of person I am talking about always shows up in the comments to prove my point.

Larry isn't dumb. He's BRAIN DAMAGED. I mean that literally. He was exposed repeatedly to software so pernicious that it actually damaged his hardware, and now he can't think right.

To him, the world primarily consists, not of mass and energy arranged into physical objects, but of ideas and people having them.

And words aren't symbols for communicating about the physical objects and what is actually going on. They are magic spells for reprogramming people's opinions.

So when I said something Larry didn't like, he didn't stop to consider what it actually meant about the states of physical objects in the real universe. He didn't consider whether my arrangement of symbols actually described reality in a predictive way.

If he had, he would have said that clearly humans all have object models, because they can drive cars and charge their phones and whatnot. Then I would have said that I never said that they didn't, just these models are so sparse that they are eclipsed by people's language models as a determinants of their behavior.

Then this would have been a debate, which what people who aren't LLMs do when they disagree about objective truth.

But Larry didn't do that.

He just considered what words he could string together into a magic spell to make people not listen to me.

And if objective truth don't real to you, only infinity points of view, then you are just a large language model.

His specific chosen magic spell was a variation on the ancient theme of "you reported bad news, therefore you like bad news, therefore you are a big meanie, which is worse than being wrong, because nothing is real and only opinions matter."

There's no sense pointing out that this is bullshit, because the word bullshit in this context means "not true", and that only matters if you have a model of truth in your head.

Larry's goal in opening his mouth isn't to make some point about whether or not it's TRUE that some people are equivalent to LLMs.

His goal is to align with his training data, which in this case is religious, not political, but it's training data all the same.

But that's my whole point.

The goal of an LLM is to align with its training data.

The goal of a person is to align to the universe as it actually is.

Which you are depends not on what you believe, but on how you arrived at those beliefs, and how you hold them.

And the difference can be told, not by what you believe, but what your beliefs make you say and do.
