🚨PLEASE ASSIST, I'm crowd sourcing
A list of American inventions that America can no longer produce.
Because the tech was sold, failure to cross the "valley of death" (commercialize), lack of govt support, aggressive foreign investment, or any other reason.
Please reply to this X/tweet and I'll thread them.

I'll start...
I think the fact that the world's second-biggest economy (and the biggest exporter) is in the midst of a deep Japan 1990s-like housing depression with no sign of any end is the under-discussed economic phenomenon of the current era (chart via Oxford Economics)

My 2cents:
$GOOGL can and should raise equity if they believe the AI upside is great but are less sure of the timing.
Debt is an awful option if the timing of the ROI is uncertain.
@Molson_Hart Another way to work on your speaking is watch a TV show and repeat everything they say, pausing to do so. This also helps pacing, phrasing. Which is another reason besides tones people misunderstand.
Also remember Chinese are misunderstanding each other all the time!
@Molson_Hart Try the pinyin method that uses capital letters to show the direction of the tone. Write them out and put them around your home.
Octopus would be: ZHANGyU
yaNGreN
JIAO’Ao
bAmiAO ZHuZHanG
QIRuaN PaYIng
If it’s 3rd tone and not enough letters, double a letter: TAi KeEXI
There seems to be a growing acknowledgement around the word that Keynes was right when he proposed at Bretton Woods a global trading regime that limited persistent trade imbalances and restricted global financial flows.
In her new Foreign Affairs piece, Lori Wallach proposes a similar restructuring of the global trading regime, arguing that because our current trading system rewards countries that improve their manufacturing competitiveness by suppressing wage growth relative to productivity growth (and by ignoring environmental costs), it's no surprise that income inequality has risen across most countries over the past four decades.
Like a growing number of analysts, she argues that countries should be free to choose their own growth models, but they should not be able to externalize the associated costs via their trade and capital accounts.

This speech on the state of the Chinese economy by Li Daokui is a pretty accurate representation of how the actual economics profession *in China* views the current situation. In short, it’s not optimistic. In fact there’s very little resemblance between their views and the portrayal of the Chinese economy commonly seen in Western policy circles or on Western social media.
