I stood with Australia this morning,
at a local RSL that was standing room only,
Brass band beside a childrens choir,
as young parents heard stories from veterans,
bleary-eyed children between them.
Young eyes and medals shone, a quiet pride stirring,
as the old men spoke of times "over there",
and the meaning of watching the day dawning
The ANZACs I think,
would have smiled at the sight of us,
standing with Australia this morning.
Lest we forget
