@eevblog Nothing has really changed except for the fact that he irritated both his base (for the pointless waste) AND the jewish lobby (for not fully committing to the pointless waste)?
@freemanculer@FoxUSNews Full context? Like the extended period of time that he voluntarily sat in a place where he supposedly felt threatened? The answer is very simple: he is a moron who has poor impulse control - prison is full of people like that.
@josefprusa@Mojee3d@Prusa3D If the Chinese are selling at a loss... why would you not take advantage of that - because you want to fight fairly in an unfair contest? Very publicly sell a high margin modkit for the biggest Chinese loss leader, actively brand and support it. I have just solved your problem.
@viperz28@tomshardware Are any of their Core XYs "open frame"? The MK4S is open frame, a bed slinger... and $999. I bet that is the one I was talking about, but I can't be sure - because their archived pages leave out the price.
@root_expression@tomshardware What do you figure the margin is on that $1k unit? Material cost and labor for QA would be a tiny fraction of the price, it is obvious that the price is part of a market segmentation strategy that relies on Chinese providers doing what they do.
@eevblog Dunno what the gabling winnings tax is, but I can tell you that it felt really bad paying short term capital gains rate on the bcash airdrop liquidation (short term because the IRS refused to offer guidance on airdrops).
@SmoereSoeb@eevblog They've got NDIR sensors for CO now, but for whatever reason they cost a couple orders of magnitude more than the CO2 sensors using the exact same technology. I'm just glad that practically immortal oxygen sensors are finally attainable for under $100.
@eevblog Almost everything that can be sensed has a cheap consumable sensor and an expensive durable sensor. As far as I know - that isn't the case with ph, where even super expensive lab meters use consumable salt electrodes...
@eevblog I started using a password manager the first time a hacked site dumped my favorite memorable password. KeePass on both the desktop and the phone (no cloud nonsense, just copy the db file over usb). Been happy with it for over 15 years.
@seanmdav False choice, it isn't either or, do both. The distinction between a soldier and a politician that matters here: politicians are snakes and this is expected. The military sinks time+energy into the honor code because it prevents a lord of the flies scenario from being the norm.
@MattHartensveld DRAM is a good demonstration of capability, and I'd never tell another man what to build in his own chip fab shed, but... if it were me I'd consider parts of the tech tree that got briefly poked in the 70s/80s but never commercialized. Stuff like cryocomputing and async circuits.
@jondelarroz Unpopular because it is a mischaracterization. He has gotten drunk and embarrassed himself pretty regularly for a long time, but this time there is lasting damage to others - people who are a lot more likable. Turning the other cheek would be a really stupid thing to do here.
@eevblog Same story with our illegals. Some would take offense to that description, but it is more polite than "recourseless slave labor" - no accident that corporations are big fans of "relaxed" border policy.
