sometimes I pop in and check on things here on this app and then get overwhelmed by the chaos of it and then I remember two very good things:
1) God is sovereign & very kind
2) He has good work for you and I both in this, his good world.
Our cultural moment has weaponized compassion and lost conviction along the way. Compassion for people is vital, but it’s not more important than conviction. Compassion without conviction will inevitably lead us to make decisions in the fear of man rather than in the fear of God.
"And so it went. No bells or sirens. No general alarm. But all over the Titanic, in one way or another, the word was passed."

The case emerged from a 2020 incident in which an unauthorized person destroyed the embryos of three couples, stored by the Center for Reproductive Medicine in Mobile, AL.
The couples filed a lawsuit, arguing that the center is liable for their embryos' deaths under AL's Wrongful Death of a Minor Act. A lower AL court found that the Act did not apply to embryos outside the womb.
So, the couples appealed to the AL Supreme Court.
In an 8-1 ruling, the AL Supreme Court ruled that unborn children are, in fact, children, “without exception based on developmental stage, physical location, or any other ancillary characteristics.”
Justice Jay Mitchell argues that the Wrongful Death of a Minor Act indeed includes unborn children who are and are not ‘in utero’.
Chief Justice Tom Parker writes, "[E]ven before birth, all beings bear the image of God, and their lives cannot be destroyed without effacing his glory... Each person therefore has value that far exceeds the ability of human beings to calculate."

This means that fertility clinics, doctors, and other participants in the IVF process can be held liable for the destruction of embryos.
Because IVF very often involves destroying embryos, this makes the practice legally risky.

Dana Sussman, the executive director of the pro-abortion group, Pregnancy Justice, told the Washington Post: "This is a natural extension of the march toward fetal personhood. This is a cause of great concern for anyone that cares about... abortion care."
If we, as pro-life Christians, believe what we say we do about abortion - that life begins at conception and unborn babies have dignity- that must extend to our thoughts on IVF and other reproductive technology.
We have immense compassion for couples experiencing infertility, understanding that the unfulfilled desire for children is heartbreaking. We also acknowledge that every baby, no matter how they're conceived, is valuable and made in God's image.
But being pro-life does not mean, "Have babies through whatever means necessary." It means we see babies in the womb as what they are: humans, made in God's image, entitled to human rights, the most fundamental of which is the right to life.
Most often, the IVF process includes the creation of many embryos (sometimes a dozen or more). Because most couples only want 2-4 children, the rest of the embryos are usually frozen indefinitely or discarded (thawed). In rare cases, the embryos are adopted.
IVF also typically includes a form of eugenics, in which the embryos are tested for disorders such as Down Syndrome. They are also tested for gender. The parents can choose to discard or indefinitely freeze the unwanted embryos. While not all couples will not choose this route, it is an incredibly common part of the IVF regimen.
Even in cases where all created embryos are transferred, the risk of death for the embryo both before and after implantation is high. This is why many doctors will not agree to only create a few embryos.
If embryos are humans made in God's image, then abandoning or discarding them is sin. And while creating only a few embryos is inarguably better than creating more embryos than a woman intends to carry, it is still asking an embryo to bear the elevated risk of death involved in the transfer process.
ʀᴇᴍᴇᴍʙᴇʀ: when technology takes us from what’s natural to what’s possible, we are obligated to stop and ask moral and Biblical questions.

Third party reproduction uses eugenics processes to cull "undesirable" traits and give customers a quality product. Children shouldn't be created and treated THIS way. #ThemBeforeUs@Advo_Katy#TimPool
