I think I would definitely fit in more with Roman Catholicism than Evangelicalism. I get along fine with Evangelicals, but my beliefs are far more Catholic, or at least sympathetic towards Catholicism. Things that scandalize Evangelicals donβt bother me at all.
Am I Roman Catholic? No.
Could I be Roman Catholic? Yes.
I am totally disillusioned with Evangelicalism, for theological, historical, and cultural reasons.
I am drawn towards Roman Catholicism.
I can only remain Evangelical if I do so in the style of guys like Norman Geisler.
It makes more sense to argue for a specific denomination than mere Christianity. No such thing exists in my opinion, unless we are willing to arbitrarily exclude some from the fold while including others. There ought to be a clear criteria. Roman Catholicism offers this clarity.
Is Mormonism polytheistic?
I think that is what Joseph Smith taught in the King Follett Discourse and in the Sermon in the Grove. I think that is what is taught in the Book of Abraham. I also think that is what is taught in the Journal of Discourses.
So my answer is yes. It is.
I think the historical record is clear that if Joseph Smith did in fact privately practice polygamy, while publicly condemning the practice, then he was a deceiver.
I think @MonogamistJoeβs kind of work is admirable for defending Josephβs credibility as a prophet.
I am not interested in proving Mormonism false to Mormons.
I am interested in understanding Mormonism. I find it fascinating.
I am interested in the claims for and against it.
I believe it is false, but also incredibly sophisticated for a 19th century farmer to invent for fun.
Are there Mormon miracles that could vindicate the Restoration? I am not aware of any. The claim that God abandoned His people to apostasy for most of Church history doesnβt make sense to me.
The fact that Joseph Smith dabbled in the occult is evidence that he could have been influenced by demons.
If the Great Apostasy is true, the same could be said of Roman Catholics: they were deceived by Satan for centuries.
Parable of Wheat and Tares makes that seem unlikely.
JUST IN: Truck carrying 40,000 pounds of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer has been stolen in California, in what's believed to be the largest βbeer heistβ ever.

You guys should debate this topic.
βWhich religion is more influenced by Greek philosophy: Mormonism or Catholicism?β
Mormon cosmology is fascinating:
1. All things are material.
2. Spirit is refined matter.
3. Souls are eternal.
It seems to me that eternal principles are values that exist. They are more fundamental than God. They are unchanging.
@polysophical care to add to this? π€
Mormonism is Neoplatonic, but cooler.
Mormonism is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT influenced by Greek philosophy.
It is arguably more Greek, and less Hebrew, than Roman Catholicism. #LatterDaySaint
They are some of the most dangerous drugs on the market. Benzodiazepine and alcohol are like the only two substances where the withdrawals can kill you. Benzos are also highly addictive and pushed on people like candy.
