@TfLTPH My taxi licence renewal is still with Occupational Health, apparently reviewing “medical documents in more detail”. I’m not due a medical and still haven’t been told what documents they’re reviewing or why. I’ve asked for clarification but just get told to wait.
The LTDA's GS tops the table in the CoM elections again. It's not exactly a ringing endorsement though. In fact, only 17.2% of eligible voters ticked his box. If we translate that to the whole trade,he would have the support of 10.3% of drivers.
"Voice of the trade?" Not for me.
Forget who topped the poll. The real figure is 25.2%.
Years after promises of reform, engagement and modernisation, fewer than one in four eligible members voted.
That’s the statistic that should concern everyone after the CoMs commitment in their special meeting manifesto!
CABBIES!

@owenjonesjourno@JasonReidx@5Pillarsuk Ummm…
This fits a broader pattern on parts of the activist left: an intersectional hierarchy.
If an evangelical Christian organisation had made the same remarks as @5PillarsUK in 2026, you would be fuming. The language of “inclusive views” would disappear overnight!
CALLING ALL CABBIES!
@LTCFC1928’s next event takes place on Wed, July 8th, to @HertsZoo!
Why not #GetInvolved and be part of this magical day. The more drivers we have, the more children can take part in this truly unforgettable experience.
Let's make it a day to remember! ❤️
And since you are British: London Black Cabs actually prove the opposite of the “too complicated” argument.
Britain already has a mainstream taxi model where ramp access is expected, ordinary, and built into the vehicle category. That is precisely why Waymo’s exclusion of non-transfer power wheelchair users is so glaring.
The safety/liability point is not an excuse to avoid access. It is the reason access has to be engineered properly: ramp/lift access, safe gradients, adequate clearance, wheelchair securement where needed, occupant restraint, boarding stability, emergency procedures, and independent usability.
If someone tips or is injured because access is badly designed, that is an accident and foreseeable liability.
But if a company refuses to design for access at all while scaling transportation infrastructure, that is also a foreseeable civil-rights problem.
London Black Cabs show accessible design can be normalized.
Waymo should be improving on that model, not retreating behind “maybe later.”

@CabvisionTaxi Lee DaCosta explains why they opted against integrating https://t.co/yNwAW4G62S into the Cabvision App.

Interesting that FREENOW’s updated terms repeatedly describe themselves as an “intermediary”, yet the Chris Johnson’s judgment suggested obligations were owed to the platform itself once jobs were accepted.
Do the orgs believe the current app model still fits the HC principles?
Revisiting the interview with Lee DaCosta, talking about @blackcabcom

This is shocking on multiple levels.
A Freedom of Information request revealed that 158 individuals granted private hire licences had prior convictions for violent offences. In addition, 61 had drug-related convictions, 36 had drink-driving offences, and 4 had sexual offence convictions.
Overall, the FOI showed that 438 licences were issued to individuals with criminal records in the last year alone.
Further concern arises from reporting by @carolinegall1, which conflates taxi drivers with private hire drivers. These licences were granted to minicab drivers, not licensed taxi drivers - an important distinction that risks diverting attention from what is increasingly being highlighted as a very serious issue.

Have these submissions been sent to the other Orgs?
I was told in the Cab Council proposal by all Orgs that despite what it looks like on SM “we all get along”
If so, what was their feedback? The trade needs some direction. The ph numbers at the birth of XBH r killing us.
@FreeNow_UK r now showing that the market is controlled by platforms that: subsidise PH,steer, demand & coerce the choice over Taxis! With Taxis now on their App-Uber now show it to a global audience!
Is it time for a Trade meeting on Taxi Apps?
@SholaMos1@ani_says1 Kanye literally wrote, recorded, published and promoted a song called Heil Hitler. How is that remotely comparable to a neurological tic.
Better mental health literacy is needed here.
@narindertweets took part in a march recently that was awash with the Iranian regime flag- a symbol tied to an authority that kills it’s own people.
As a gay person, I’m expected to overlook that. Even though the regime persecutes LGBT individuals.
So it’s a bit rich for her to take issue with the Union flag.
Why is it that those who advocate for historical reparations rarely direct the same energy toward challenging present-day abuses- particularly in some Arab states, where per-capita rates of forced labour, migrant exploitation, debt bondage, human trafficking, hereditary servitude and forced marriage remain among the highest?
