While I agree with you, we also need better data centers than the monstrosities that are being built now. There are many reasons that people are opposed to them in their backyard, the least of which is the AI compute itself. Orbital data centers are a great solution but obviously can’t come fast enough.
@JohnthesheepNAT@Kathleen_Tyson_ I agree that it's a pointless circle, but that has nothing to do with the text or the theory. I speak to people's ideas, not undefined infographics.
@JohnthesheepNAT@Kathleen_Tyson_ Where did she say Gibraltar is involved? Because Cueta is "to the south?" Her hypothesis is to take control of the *Strait* of Gibraltar, which is not owned by the UK; it's an international waterway that's operated
by both Spain (at Tarifa) and Morocco (at Tangier).
@NumberGoUpp@TheShortBear I have no love for Citadel, but it sounds like this guys was overleveraged out the ass and got wrecked, which I sympathize with, but it was his own doing.
@NumberGoUpp@TheShortBear How about personal responsibility over regulation? We don’t need daddy government telling people what they can and cannot do.
Well, sort of cautiously but not really. When we first started there were higher spacing requirements between vehicles, but that leads to broken stowage and lost revenue. So they started packing those badboys in mirror-to-mirror just like all other cargo. The issue is thermal runaway of the battery and out of thousands of cars on a ship it only takes one. We make rounds with a thermal camera but it’s insufficient and if one lights up, there are lashing holes in the deck that draw oxygen from the hold below and there is zero chance you’ll put it out even if you find it in the dark. I would much rather fight a gasoline fire and our fixed sprinkler system might even put that out.
I do have a plan that could solve the problem if there are less than 4 deck of EVs being shipped, but I doubt anyone will listen until we lose another car ship like the ones in the Azores, Northern Europe, and in the North Pacific the last few years.
@SheldonHaynie@mercoglianos@elonmusk They expected it to explode, so the recovery team will be figuring this one out as they go. I expect they’ll be creatively successful, but it wasn’t necessarily thought out ahead of time.
@_dkout I’m not sure you guys understand the vast nuances of the maritime world. If you need a consultant or just want to chat about how to overcome some challenges, feel free to DM.
@StirlingForge@sudoingX This account has gone from useful info and real world benchmarks to just hype and engagement bait because X is his income right now. I want so badly to use local models for real work and thought it was a ‘me’ problem, but realizing that’s not the case
@AlexFinn He’s using your post to foreshadow/tease the hardware they’re building with stolen IP from Apple. Smart move and they’ve done a good job with these models, I just feel in my soul that OpenAI is the most untrustworthy of the bunch.
@KirkBostrom@SternDrewCrypto@jam_croissant Who will prosecute them? If you think it’ll be the next administration I’m not sure you understand the true problem. However, I still hope you’re right.
@sudoingX@sama This is a marketing post to get users to give access to their entire message and email history. OpenAI has zero intention of being open or local.
