Your 20s is for discovering and defining how your life will be. You cannot afford to be complacent nor comfortable. This is not the time to be comfortable but in building spree.
Tomorrow marks two years since young Kenyans who stood up against political tyranny were killed for it. Many others were maimed. They are living scars of our brutal political system.
Two things must be clear as we commemorate June 25th: First, the right to peaceful assembly and to picket is constitutional. The government is duty-bound to respect and protect it. It should not unleash goons or interfere. Second, government officials must desist from threatening citizens who are organising to exercise their rights and remember their departed loved ones. Kenyans, killed in 2024 and 2025, deserve justice.
Accountability must be followed with appropriate compensation and permanent memorialization. Cobbling together sham compensation is not justice.
Kenyans must be allowed to exercise their democratic rights, and never again should we witness abductions or forced disappearances.
Enough.

That thread was necessary, as a girl in her young 20s I'm awakened to the fact that:
1. You can always be more
2. Whatever you pursued for undergraduate doesn't have to necessarily determine your Masters or PhD
3. Black women are more than the eyes meet
4. There's no academic limit, you can keep on going and going and going
So a letter to my 10 years self from now, "represent us well, Ik you can"
Love Island is a modern day anthropology/ ethnography research project on love, dating, mating and relationship dynamics. It requires a level of intelligence that asks one to decenter oneself from the observation and analysis. Watching love island is an art and a science.
Used to get bantered for 4th, then it shifted to finishing 2nd. Now they’re trying to turn winning the league and losing a ucl final into banter. That’s just the goalposts moving as the level rises. Rival fans are hanging on for dear life, they know what’s coming.
It's the strangest thing, especially as an Arsenal fan who cares more about Arsenal than I could ever about any other team's fortunes. It'll never make sense to me. But no wam.
