@MedRegoncall1 The training to be a consultant is at a minimum 11 years with 2 masters, a BSc hons, research paper authorship and a fellowship exam, it very rigorous with only a few starting their surgical trainee role each year. There is a set scope of practice and this is heavily regulated.

@MedRegoncall1 I’m a current pod surgeon trainee. There are about 120 in the UK most of which do elective forefoot procedures and then there are some consultants working within limb salvage alongside orthopaedics, plastics and vascular teams.

@DrJN_SportsMed As a sports podiatrist I get £25 for a follow up or review appointment from Bupa. They also won’t cover steroid injections, orthotics or ultrasound scans by me.
